Oh well, after about 6 weeks of RW800 ownership, the RW800 has failed.
I have requested a return from the seller and I have sent it back for a refund.
Good luck to other owners. I hope your experience is better than mine.

And what has “failed”? And how was it used, as standalone or as addon?
My two RW800 are working (connected to a RS130 and a RS250 are working without any problems.
Ordered a third one for a RS451, but currently the availability in Germany isn’t good…
I can’t tell the failure mode because I don’t know. But briefly here’s what’s happened.
Bought RW800 6 weeks ago and installed no problem using the Rose Air app on Android.
Up to week 4 working perfectly. Using optical output to Audiolab DAC.
Week 5 Rose Air app fails to see the RW800. Google Home and Apple Music can see the RW800 and it still worked.
Week 6 Rose Air app, Google Home and Apple Music all fail to see the RW800. Not working.
Spent all one afternoon trying factory resets, reinstalling Rose Air app. Rose Air app confirms WiFi connection during set up. But progress bar keeps working, doesn’t complete WiFi set up. App reports that device times out on WiFi connection. RW800 completely unresponsive, stuck on green LED and not visible to Google Home or Apple Music. Rebooting makes no difference.
RW800 returned to seller as failed.
And sadly just like other software and hardware failures Hifi Rose will deny, deflect, defend and disappear. This has been going on for years.
Thanks for the comment. It’s of no consequence to me really apart from minor inconvenience. The seller agreed immediately to swap the RW800 for another brand of device. It was a mistake buying the RW800, but we all live and learn.
