Hi Kawao and hififan,
Maybe a option here guys we need Plex on the Rose streamers that way it would work.
Regards Matt.
For the music server, I am using my own Mac Pro for it considering I have one for works. Though, I am using DHCP for the internet, will try using static IP later.
I am currently using my iPhone 12 Pro for RoseConnect.
The Mac Pro has been configured to force using SMBv1 for network share.
Plex would be fine, but I have realized that Asset UPNP is much better. It is really the only server that can fix the tagging issues for WAV files.
Can we at least have Plex support, though?
There’s no way I would pay for a Roon Nucleus just because of Rose.
I have a RS150B, Synology NAS and for the Cambridge audio streamer I use Minim Server. What are the best setting for my RS150. A tutorial would be welcome. Including settings on the NAS and on the Rose.
Thanks in advance.
My question is from dec 2021 and still no reaction on it
Hello,
Features related to DLNA/UPnP media discovery and addition are not yet under consideration.
- Enable SMBv1 in Synology NAS settings.
- RS150B > Settings > Storage Settings > SMB Settings > Set ID and PW for SMB and enable SMB
- RS150B > Music > Folder > Network > Select Synology NAS > enter your NAS’s account
- Select your music file
@ROSELOA Hello,
I’ve had a similar problem for a long time.
The connection to the Synology is established and I can browse through the albums.
However, no library is created.
Hello,
- Seems like your screenshot is about RoseConnect for PC. Is it Windows or Mac?
- Does the issue you mentioned happens in RoseConnectPremium APP, for iphone or Android phone?
- RoseConnect for PC > Setting > Media Playback Option > Music Play Option > What’s your setting?
- We have new version for PC. Notice will be updated soon, but you still can download the update file.
Would you check if it still happens in new version?
For Windows 4.1.6
For Mac 4.1.6
@ROSELOA
Hi,
- Windows 10 latest Version
- It happens on Android an Rose too.
- New version is installed and shows the same behavior
Hello,
Would you check this?
- RS250 > Music > Folder > Network > Next to the name of your NAS, you will see an orange colored clip button.
- If you touch this clip, you can edit or delete login information. Please delete.
- Reboot your ROSE device.
- Enter your NAS again.
NOT as simple as you said, we all try many times, all attempts is network error or login error.
This whole SMB thing is just extra burden. For me, I have moved on with my new stack in which my Rose amplifier connects to my server via WebDAV. This loses the ability to view album art and browse music files via the mobile/desktop application but I am generally fine with it. At least better than using Airplay and suffer from the quality limitations it brings. Yuck.
Not sure are you interested into using WebDAV for your Rose, but here’s a simple guide on how to setup one:
- Head to the Music app (not to be confused with Apple Music app) (or Videos, depends on what you are playing)
- Head to the folder icon, the one just above the gears icon.
- Click Cloud and click the add button
- Enter the information required (fyi HTTPS is supported)
- You should be displayed with a list of folders which should be equivalent to what you store in the corresponding server (may vary depending on how you setup user accounts)
If you are wondering how to setup WebDAV for your server… take a Google search and you will find plenty of tutorials about it.
In fact, I’d probably recommend this method more since WebDAV is way faster than SMBv1 (of course, depends on your intranet/internet but in most case it is indeed noticeably faster). And the fact that you could have your server hosted remotely which is literally my current situation.
The another way around is probably plug your TV audio output to your Rose amplifier via something like Coaxial, then install the corresponding player client for your music server (if your TV is a smart TV).
If your TV isn’t a smart TV, TV hubs like Apple TV are always an option, though ATV doesn’t support 24bit/96khz audio output so I would probably avoid it if those values are important to you.
Why we have to using products with struggle way?
Chill, nothing is perfect at the beginning. Things take time to polish to be best. We as early adopters should be aware of the risks products like this give.
At least they gave us the option to use WebDAV which is already generous enough. The shortcomings of SMB support in Rose devices are just temporary and will probably be resolved soon with the feedback users (we) provide
I hope they will find à solution soon.
Sadly, still the same here. Connection established, the highly insecure SMB1 is active, I can browse through the folder structure, but no scanning of music files (0 Audio, 0 Video). @Roseloa, any suggestion of how to make this device usable for our own music? I have owned this for more than a year now without ever playing any song off my NAS. So frustrating at this price point.
I followed these instructions, but no luck. No scanning, no ability to play a song I see in the folder structure.
Still not under consideration?
