Speakers for HIFIROSE system

I’m building a new system. What kind of speakers do you recommend for warm, rich, holographic, non-fatiguing, relaxed sound in a small room? I’m thinking of using rs130, rd160 dac, and ra180 amp. When i used ra180 with sonus faber nova the sound was hyperdetailed, highly resolving, but not relaxed. The transients and dynamics were fast and powerful, to the point of being startled at times. I want something more relaxing this time that will lower my blood pressure.

What kind of cables and power supply? Floor standers or book shelf are both ok.

My current consideration list is Piega 611, Bower Wilkin 802 series, Borresen Cryo Z1, Sonus Faber Serafino.

Rs130

Atc scm50aslt active speakers and atc cda2 pre amplifier/cd player

Speakers can be placed close to the wall if you want.

Hey @Bicycle - if you have the B&W 802 on your consideration list - you should have a look at PMC speakers - their twenty5i series is superb, very warm, detailed and relaxed, ideal for a small room.

Thanks ill have to audition those. Heard a lot of good things.

I run Amphion 3LS. They have a full range of speakers. Very non fatiguing and sound fantastic with most genres!

PCM speakers I believe are great.
I have Alchemy speakers ( transmission line)
With ribbon tweeters floor standing speakers
Absolutely amazing.
As the previous person mentioned PCM would be a great choice.
I personally wouldn’t go back to normal speakers after hearing transmission lines- the base is just rhythmic and timing is not forced.
I’m no expert here but please try to demo a a pair - good luck on your hunt.

Absolutely, @Paul

Are your Alchemy the Australian made speakers?

I have an old pair of floor standers PMC twenty.23 in one home and a more recent pair of bookshelf PMC Twenty5 22i mounted on stands in another, both constructed with transmission line design. The bass is warm and yet punchy, complementing the detail of other frequencies. Couldn’t be happier with the way these sound.

Hi, I also dealt with a problem with the speakers and finally decided on the Ellipticor A50mkIi, here I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed and the sound is fantastic across the spectrum, the speakers are proven and tested on multiple amplifiers and always with excellent results.

Have you considered Magnepan speakers? You need to place them well into the room. But then the sound is fast and transparent, very spacious because they are bipolar and also full sounding and non fatiguing.

Be aware that PMC are transmission line speakers and can be very overwhelming in a small room.

The most versatile and adaptable solution would be small monitors paired with a pair of subwoofers like the new Buchard. You can adjust bass to your room from your phone with an app.

Also have a look at the Oggy full range speakers. Very holographic because there’s no crossover and the drivers are small.

I can’t tell how any speakers will behave with this amp, but if you want detailed and relaxed sound you should consider JBL L100 or L82…

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I will look into all of the speakers mentioned and read up on them. Frankly, I’m not familiar with many of them so it may take me some time.

Yesterday I went and auditioned Wilson Sacha with a Nagra, DCS electronic stack and also a Dan D’agostino integrated amplifier. I am happy to report that while the Nagra and D’agostino were stunning, I came home and throughly enjoyed my Hifi Rose stack the next morning just as much. Rose has truly changed the game with the value, being a solid performance competitor against products up to 3- 5x the cost.

Bicycle,

You are right. The HiFi Rose products are expensive but they are unequaled for value per dollar spent.

StandardModel

Bicycle, can you share the dimensions of your room (along with ceiling height)… also, do you have Room Treatment in it? Your room is at the very least 50% of the battle with regard to the resonances you want and are looking for. Get this right and you will immensely enhance the enjoyment of your speakers and system.

That said, the speakers for your “current consideration” are a bit all over the place with regard to price, floorstanding vs standmount speakers, etc.

Not to complicate your life… but since you are still on the hunt and sampling speakers, I would highly suggest checking the FR30 and FR20 of PS Audio. I believe these will surprise you especially when it comes to their performance vs cost. They punch way above their weight. Real Value there. Another speaker line you may want to audition are those by Franco Serblin. He’s the founder of Sonus Faber before leaving the company over a decade ago and starting his own line of speakers. More on the boutique side but craftmanship is superb.

Sorry for late reply- just spotted your reply.
I purchase the parts from IPL ACOUSTICS
And had a gentleman build the cabinets kit M1Tlm speaker kit.

Fantastic sound. Built in the UK.
