SSD in the RS 520

Hi, almost decided on the RS 520 to replace my Lyngdorf 2170… wanted to know if there is an option to add a 4TB SSD within the RS 520 and if yes, does the 520 read the music files easily without having to read the SSD everytime the device is switched on???

Hi
Yes, sure — you can add an internal SSD up to 4TB. Personally, I’m using a Samsung 870 EVO 4TB.
And no, it doesn’t rescan the whole SSD on every power-up. It indexes once, then just uses the library database and only updates when files change/you add new music.

Thanks very much for the feedback sir… Have almost made up my mind now …

As mentioned by @Geka4epist, you can install an internal SSD up to 4TB in the RS520. For example, many users successfully use models such as the Samsung 870 EVO 4TB.

The RS520 does not rescan the entire SSD every time the device powers on. The music library is indexed once, and afterward the system uses its database, updating only when files are changed or new music is added.

Additionally, if your SSD is formatted as NTFS, exFAT, or FAT32, you can use it immediately without reformatting. Please make sure your SSD meets the following specifications: 2.5-inch size, 7mm thickness, SATA type, and a capacity of 4TB or less.
