SSD or USB easiest for RS520?

I am thinking of making use of the SSD possibility on my 520.

2 Questions from my side:

  • Which SSD will work best or would a USB also work (the USB would be much easier for me), on which input?
  • What is the easiest way to get the files onto that SSD. I see the possibility of using internet adresses but I am sure I won’t be able to get that working hahaha. I’d rather drag n drop it on my iMac first.

Sorry for the many questions, just curious to get more things out of my 520 and try

The internal SSD has to be formatted by the Rose, so you cannot pre-load music to it from your Mac before installing it in the Rose.

I found it easiest to drop the files onto an external USB drive (formatted using ex-FAT) from my Mac. Then take that drive to the Rose, plug it into the rear and use File Manager to transfer the music to the internal SSD. You can also transfer music from your Mac to the internal SSD of the Rose over the network, but I don’t have experience with that. It is not that difficult, but if you go that route make sure you have a wired connection.

I used a 4TB Samsung 870 EVO V-NANO SSD as my internal drive.

You can also just play music from that external drive after you scan it using File Manager. Then you can take that back and forth to your Mac when you want to add music that you ripped or downloaded to your Mac. You will need to rescan it after you add music.

Thanks. That’s really helpful advice
