Streamer with REAL passthrough/bitstream

I am interested in the Rose products but cannot find the answer to my question. I have many MODERN audio files that i would like to play. I have a Marantz AV10 Pre/Pro that can decode just about any format. I only want a streamer that will passthrough/bitstream ANY file that i choose and NOT try to decode it. I want it to just send it out the HDMI port for my Pre/Pro to decode.

I see that your products have a passthrough mode for HDMI. Is it a true passthrough/bitstream mode without any decode/conversion? Can I send it ANY file format? For example:

Dolby Atmos - .mka, .m4a, .thd
DTS-X - .dts, .dtsx
Auro-3D - embedded .dts
MPEG-H - .mp4, .mhas
MLP - .mlp
DSD - .dsf, .dff (native raw multichannel)

Hi
No- Rose products are Stereo devices, they should not be seen as Multimedia Players.
most of the formats on your list are embedded formats. Only a Video Player can play them properly, but as the Rose devices are limited to stereo only, this will not help you.
Surround Bitstream Out is not supported.
And I havenā€™t seen any Music Streamer that does. The Video Feature RoseTube allows to watch Videos, but the sound will remain Stereo.
Here are the supported Codecs, found on any product page.

A PC with VLC or Kodi would play most of the files you listed. Also a Media Streamer like Nvidia Shield TV offers these kind of things.
DSD MCH is a bit more tricky, I use my oppo 203 to play these files from my NAS. Any Blueray Player with SACD Support would also play it, if they have a Media Player with LAN.

Thank you for the reply. I have not seen anything from Rose stating that their devices are purely 2-channel products. Perhaps they need to mention that as they do tout their hdmi passthrough ability.

I am not looking for a multi-media player. I am looking for a music streamer. The eversolo dmp-a6 can output all of the multichannel discrete formats. It just cannot work with MUSIC-ONLY object formats. VLC and KODI do not support MUSIC-ONLY object formats. They only work with audio object formats embedded in video files. Not standalone audio files.

Bitstream OUT is the Topic - so either it does or not. If it does, the player must support the Codecs.
And where did you get the MUSIC Only Files from? I havenā€™t seen something like this in the wild.

Audio only is also valid for Pure Audio Blurays (I have some of them)? But they are also embedded in some sort of Screensaver Videoā€¦

I have around 200+ SACD, but only 60 do contain Multichannel - I play them with my oppo.
I can see the wish, but have no other solution available - and Rose supports only whats written on their page so far.

This is just one of many sites that sell music-only object files. https://immersiveaudioalbum.com/shop/

Pure Audio Blu-rays can be ripped to music-only object files with DVD Audio Extractor. https://www.dvdae.com/

Thanks for the Link.
For PureAudio Iā€™m used to the MKV Format or ISO Images within Kodi.

Ouch! Stereo Only ā† no surround sound nor 3D sound.

mmm, I now have to do a lot of thinking about buying the RS130.

Surround Sound is on many SACD disks. 3D Sound is on Amazon Prime.

Iā€™m not yet a fan for 3D sound (some concerts are nice in Dolby Atmos - its more immersive).

I know 95% of music is in stereo. But to future proof my main audio product, Iā€™m sad thereā€™s no surround sound and no 3D sound support via HDMI.

I have a Home Cinema with Dolby Atmos Surround Sound - But when it comes to SACD (which are officially copy protected) you need a player which can transport it to the DAC.

I donā€™t see any reason for Hifi Rose to implement things which ā€œofficiallyā€ almost do not exist.
And even on SACD, its just a Mastering from an Original Stereo Recording. Same is for lot of other stuff as well. So donā€™t expect anything coming in this direction - this has been discussed and it is not as simple as we think.

If the main reason for you is Surround Sound, then current Hifi Rose products are not what you look for.
These are Stereo devices with an internal (Stereo) DAC, or a Streamer with a external Stereo DAC.
HDMI ARC is for Stereo as well.

  • The following music, sounds great in 2D surround sound:

    1. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
    2. Peter Gabriel - UP
    3. Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
  • The following music, sounds great in 3D immersive sound:

    1. Bluray: Hans Zimmer: Live In Prague (2017, Dolby Atmos, PQ 4.4 SQ 4.6

After doing a bit of thinking,

  • for the selected few great sounding 5.1 albums and great Dolby Atmos albums, I can use my disc player.

  • for internet Dolby Atmos streamed media (e.g., when RS130 supports Amazon Music), Iā€™ll figure something out - thereā€™s about 20+ songs I currently like in Dolby Atmos.

Best Version of DSOTM by Pink Floyd is the 5.0 SACD followed by the Atmos Version (which was in the 50th Anniv. Box).
i Agree, that it is not worth to get devices for only specific needs.
