Tidal Connect still missing

Hi there,

I just installed my RS451. After some issues with the network (apps refused to connect) I figured out that the device does not have Tidal Connect. Is this correct?

I am confused, since I payed multiple thousands of Euros for a hifi streamer that does not have the most popular hifi streaming service’s “Connect” feature. Of course I should have researched that issue before buying, but then, I just expected this feature, since, looking around, I cannot find any hifi streaming device that does NOT have the Tidal connect, correct?

I then tried the various Rose Connect apps, but frankly spoken, those are quite unpleasant to use (confusing, have connection issues, always ask for permissions to get access to my photos (why?) and videos, music etc.).

Is there a timeline when you are to release Tidal connect?

Thanks a lot for your support!

No, there is no Tidal Connect (or Spotify Lossless; Spotify actually being the most popular streaming service). There is an external device promised “real soon now” that might have it.

Never count on anything not explicitly mentioned in the specs to be present. And even then, check that it actually works.

When we first launched HiFi ROSE products, we never stated that we would support TIDAL Connect or Spotify Connect.

Later, due to requests from many users, we added support for Spotify. During the process of trying to support TIDAL Connect, we encountered technical difficulties and were unfortunately unable to implement it.

As a result, we developed the RW800 module, which is designed to support TIDAL Connect as well as other additional functions.

We understand your opinion, but unfortunately it may be difficult for us to reflect your suggestion.

However, we are making efforts to set the price as reasonably as possible.

Hi ROSEHAN,

thanks for the explenation. Can you explain what the RW800 module is? Can I use this with the RS451? How can I get this?

Tidal Connect for me is a crucial feature…

Thanks a lot

The RW800 is an external expansion module developed by HiFi Rose.

It connects to existing Rose devices (such as RS130, RS150, RS451, RS151, RS201) via USB and is designed to add features that cannot be implemented through firmware updates alone.

Its main purpose is to support third-party streaming services such as Spotify Lossless and Tidal Connect, which have technical and licensing limitations on existing hardware.

The RW800 is scheduled to be officially released in May.

Hopefully any of the future streamers Rose currently has in development, i.e. those that come after the RS451, will not share those early technical and licensing limitations. Is that a fair statement Rosehan?

Yes, we try to avoid sharing detailed technical and licensing information about upcoming products as much as possible.

That wasn’t what I was asking. I was asking whether future streamers, those that follow the RS451, will require the RW800, or will have the functionality of the RW800 built in.

We have not received any information yet regarding next-generation streamers following the RS451.
At this time, it is also unclear whether future products will have the functionality of the RW800 built in.
