Tidal using Rose RS150

Totally frustrated here trying to get Tidal music to work properly my Rose.

I pay a Tidal subscription (HiFi Plus) and use it through my tablet as well as on my TV running through a DAC through my audio system. Never had a problem with their service and works flawlessly.

The Tidal on the Rose connect is completely different than my regular Tidal. My play list, recently played and most important to me is the suggested music. I don’t have that on the Rose. Most of the music I see or sugested is in a foreign language and makes no since to me. Sure I can do a search for artist and albums but it’s not the same.

This is a huge deal breaker for me. If I can’t sort this out I will have no choice but to sell the Rose and replace it with another steamer. I also use a SSD drive installed in the Rose which contains 5000+ flac and HiRez files. That seems to work pretty good so far.

I had intended on buying the Aurender N200 before I ran across the Rose. On that unit I will use my own DAC (Bryston BDA-3). That unit does not contain a DAC as the Rose does.

What am I doing wrong here? I’m in the USA if that makes a difference.

Oh well, this is why we all ask for Tidal connect but Rose does not want to implement it for some reason.
Tidal on Rose Connect is not implemented to it’s fullest potential …

Well that explains the threads that I saw about Tidal connect. Now I know what it is.

Other than that this is a fine unit. The DAC is quite good. Haven’t had a chance to run the Rose through the Bryston and compare them.

The Rose does have some excellent features. I do like the fact that I can view videos through my TV with the Rose.

I’m a Spotify user and the story is not different either!! What Rose claim is they got Spotify Connect (no in app support yet). But the connect over here works differently from other devices I have used in past (Cambridge & Naim)

  • No track status bar
  • Can’t select Next/Previous
  • Can’t choose Repeat, Shuffle etc.
  • No larger image (faded) of album art to give some visual impact; as like it does for other sources including Spotify over AirPlay

Apparently for everything you need to use the phone or tab from where the Spotify is operated. The gigantic touch enabled display and the ultra modern Bluetooth remote control is of no use :smirk:
What a shame !!

BTW, I have to admit the fact that I have no concerns on sound quality. I’m pretty satisfied compared with the Naim NDX2 I previously used.

For managing Spotify playback you should use original Spotify app. Connect function does the rest.

Yes. That’s what I’m not liking it.
Lack of control/manageability/visibility!!

Hello,

The Suggested Tracks, do you mean other than this?

Hi,
I use Tidal(Hifi plus) on the Rose without any problems. Just had to learn to use it, since it’s very different from my Bluesound Vault2.
I just go to Tidal and then scroll to the right, so I get to “My Tidal” and the press it… Then I get this:

No, it was an answer to the guy who didn’t know how to play his Playlist in Tidal! Just showed, how to get there… :relaxed:

On the App, go to Tidal and on the top menu scroll across and it’s all there…
