Seperate preamp are best for doing room calibration/correction. Anthem AVM & MRX have Arc Genesis – it is incredible.

I don’t advise a HiFi Rose unit be an All-in-One ← All-In-One unit’s cannot create reference level for everything required in an Audio System or in a Video System.

Bluetooth connection of PC or Mac keyboard to be able to type in disc info/track titles instead of using screen.

Shortcuts and aliases on home screen. User friendly, convenient. Saves a lot of click to go to the inputs screen, and have to select “OPT IN”. Let me place a “TV” hyperlink on home screen instead. Or a radio station directly on homescreen “SKY” for instance. If volume setting then also could be added to the link settings it would be heaven !

We don’t need every Stremaing service.

Also Roon does not brint every service on its platform, this has nothing to do with progress, special quality.

Keep dreaming.
If you need it, that’s ok, but not everyone needs it, quality comes first.

I too desire sound quality - that’s my prime reason for my interest in the RS130. My NAS does not have albums. It has individual songs named “Artist - Song Title.flac”. All files are organized in folders named by genre, mood, occasion (e.g., Relaxing, Fun, Party, Dining, Rock, New Age,…). Songs on streaming services are all organized by playlist (this my wish #1) – hopefully, there’s an easy way to create a playlist for each of my NAS Folders and to list streaming service playlists with the Rose Playlists. As for #2, there’s only two interconnect ways to connect the RS130 to my Anthem AVM 90 prepro (either Digital Coaxial or i2s) – i2s is my preference especially in hope that in the future RS130 will support surround sound (SACD,…) and 3D sound (Amazon Music, Apple Music, Blurays like Hans Zimmer Live in Prague,…) ← I now found a cable manufacturer that can custom build a pin configuration compatible to my AVM 90; hence no longer need #2.

#4 was requested because of all the RS130 User Interface comments/bugs and slow scan/rescan comments.

#5 onward are wish items for my use cases.

I do agree with you, fix problems first (like the PLL 10 second issue, etc) and maintain (or if possible, improve) sound quality.

Joyofmvid,

I also have an Anthem AVM and an RS 130. Can you please let me know who the cable supplier was for your custom cable build and what they charged for the cable?

I haven’t yet purchased the HiFi Rose RS130? I’m still doing research.

For custom pin configuration i2s HDMI cable, see https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000255873784.html?srcSns=sns_Copy&spreadType=socialShare&bizType=ProductDetail&social_params=21093606133&aff_fcid=5d53334ec865429fbc79eb433f36bc9d-1717016112874-05850-_mLuh8Do&tt=MG&aff_fsk=_mLuh8Do&aff_platform=default&sk=_mLuh8Do&aff_trace_key=5d53334ec865429fbc79eb433f36bc9d-1717016112874-05850-_mLuh8Do&shareId=21093606133&businessType=ProductDetail&platform=AE&terminal_id=0609428eba7544908e676db9a22eda62&afSmartRedirect=y

I’m currently contacting Tubulus to find out if the do custom pin configurations.

I’m currently waiting for Anthem to notify me the Anthem AVM 90 pin configuration.

As soon as I know more, I’ll let you know.

BTW, I just found out that i2s carries only 2 channel sound (ie, stereo). Hence, it was recommended that I use the RS130 's HDMI output to connect to my AVM 90 (thus, permitting surround sound & 3D sound). My question is the sound quality difference between RS130’s i2s Out and HDMI Out.

For great Tubulus i2s cable review (custom pin configuration), see Tubulus Concentus I2S | The Ear

@StandardModel, Tubulus also does custom i2s pin configurations (at no extra charge) – see https://www.tubulus.net/

I also found a USB to i2s converter with four pin configurations – see GUSTARD U18 USB Interface

My next step is to get the pin configuration for the Anthem AVM 90 prepro.

Joyofmvid,

I had a Gustard U18 with a Gustard r2r r26 but swapped them for a LAiV which has multiple i2s configurations selectable by software.

@ModelloStandard,How is the LAiV after running in? Improve? Do you use balanced outputs?

Flash,

Yes, I use the LAiV’s balanced outputs. They feed an Anthem AVM70 8k.
I’m not a musician or a reliable judge but they sound significantly better to me than my Gustard r26 r2r previous DAC. I find the ESS and similar chip based Dacs to be very “accurate” but harsh sounding. The Gustard - as all r2r Dacs are - is more natural sounding. I also liked their “space” or spreading out of the sound field beyond the speakers. The LAiV is similar to the Gustard in those respects but just more so to my ears.

I would enjoy being able to add Pandora.

Requesting a Multi-Channel/2-Channel Audio Toggle:

Recommended port cable setup,

  • User can toggle the Multi-Channel Button/Icon ON or OFF.

  • If user desire’s to play music “as is”, connect RS130’s HDMI port to TV/Preamp.

  • If user desire’s to play music in “2-Channel only”, select a 2-channel port from the 2-channel group’s set of ports and connect the selected RS130’s port to the TV/Preamp

HiFi Rose:

To implement the above, rename the Passthrough Option to Multi-Channel and create a display button/icon for user to toggle this option ON or OFF.

When the user toggles the Multi-Channel option, the RS130 turns on mute, then switches the audio port (as shown below), then turns off mute. (The Multi-Channel Icon then indicates the new Multi-Channel On/Off status.)

If Multi-Channel is turned On,

  • Audio is sent on HDMI port

** If source media is audio (e.g., FLAC file, RoseRadio or music streamer’s output), a Black Screen is sent as the HDMI’s video stream

** If source media is a video (MKV file, RoseTube,…), the source video is sent as the HDMI’s video stream.

If Multi-Channel is turned Off,

  • Audio is sent to the user pre-selected 2-channel port (within the 2-channel group’s set of ports; ie, AES, USB, Digital Out, i²s)

New Wishlist: When the user setting “increase content info” is enable, put Artist on the left-side of the 2d line and after “Artist” put the song’s metadata in brackets – ie, this is the metadata shown on the default view front panel display, in top-left line.

If insufficient room to display song-title or artist-name, truncate with two suffix dots
(ie, truncated-title…)

Does the “Front Panel” have a designated name? Is this referring to what is displayed on the actual front panel of the device or does it refer to the music/video/radio station playing screen on the device? I’d like to refer to the music/video/radio station playing screen by its correct name.
In my view, this screen, whatever its name Radio Screen should be the default central screen of Rose devices after a selection is made to play a song, video or radio station instead of this:Rose Selection .
