To all those who call themselves “audiophiles”!

Hi everyone, it seems like the conversation is getting a bit heated. While it’s great to share your opinions, please refrain from personal attacks or sarcastic remarks toward others.

Interesting. Could you tell me which bass traps you used and why?

I’ll tell you more: I have a HIFI ROSE RS150B, and I compared it (probably in vain) with a WiiM for €250—and didn’t notice any difference. I really wanted to! Honestly, I was hoping at least for a bigger soundstage and more 3D imaging, but all my attempts were killed by blind listening, when my wife just switched the inputs on the amp while I sat there with my head turned away. I couldn’t tell the sound apart. As disappointing as that was, I’m not giving up: next week I’ll get a Marantz Link 10n and try the same comparison with my ROSE 150. If that doesn’t work, the RS150 dies with me :-).

Clearly your system (most likely the cables and power cords) is not neutral and revealing. You aren’t using copper cabling are you? Have you heard of silver? Also, how well do you know your wife? Perhaps she says she was switching inputs when she wasn’t, or hit the button twice so fast in succession that you were listening to the same source all along. Maybe she just wants to finally put an end to your constant perseverating over the quality of your DAC.

You need to watch some Paul McGowan videos, he’ll set you straight.

Oh, wow. Thanks for the unsolicited psychoanalysis and DAC life coaching. I’m thrilled that your expertise in my marriage and my cables extends all the way to mind-reading. I’ll be sure to consult my wife on the “proper input-switching protocol” next time, and maybe ask my DAC to explain itself too.

As for Paul McGowan videos how generous of you to suggest the literal founder of PS Audio as my personal guru. Truly, I was lost without your insight. Please, keep blessing the audiophile world with your keyboard diplomacy and sharp wit you’re clearly a saint among amateurs.

If you like, I can even make a checklist for you: cables, silver, wife behavior, DAC enlightenment so no nuance escapes your piercing judgment next time.

That’s ok VIK, I get it, not everyone appreciates my sense of humor. My first two wives were the worst, they just didn’t get it

See, now that was a joke. I have been married once, to the same woman I met in 1980.

Enjoy the music. How do you like your Dalis? I have been reading good things.

Haha, got it :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:. I also had a little fun with the DAC/inputs thing—it wasn’t meant to be serious, just poking at the chaos of blind listening.

As for the DALI Epikore 9, they’re fantastic. Really airy and detailed, with a three-dimensional soundstage that keeps surprising me. Plenty of control in the bass, especially now with the PSI Audio AVAA C214 traps in place. They’re definitely living up to the hype.

Music has never sounded this clear and spacious in my room.

Hi, first of all you have to know which frequency you have to eliminate.
I had two critical frequency peaks in my room. Therefore I was building two different Bass traps. I used some drawings from my study books.
The main effect I used is the „Helmholtz resonator“ with simple tubes with
different diameters inside and insulating wool. After that I could measure a reduction of these frequency peaks in the Frequency area below 50 Hz.
The result is a more accurate position of Instruments and musicians.
But don‘t ask me more about the drawings. It‘s too long ago but I think it is available in the Internet.

If you cant tell the difference between a Rose 151 and a wiim , you either need a hearing aid, new room, or new components, or all 3.

Considering you had 2 wives, maybe they weren’t the problem ?

Again, I told you I have KEF META BLADE 2s, they are said to be the best speakers ever produced on ASR. i retired my Raidhos after you disapproved. Now all I need is a pair of $200.00 Missions like you, and then will you approve of my setup? After I get the $200.00 Missions I can be like you and never declare a difference in any electronics because my speakers will be low resolution like yours !! Will you then approve of my set up ?
