UPNP didn't work

The RS201 is shown as UPNP player in Windows but no music (Remote library) is available.
Other UPNP player like my older Philips systems crash on opening the RS201 ‘AUDIOS → Albums’ folder.
Any tip or solution?
Have the 3.8.11 software installed, didn’t have tested with previous version, get the device two days ago and never get the UPNP server to work.

Yes there are file on internal SSD

DLNA does not have an exact specification. Because each company develops it according to their taste, compatibility is not good enough.
There seems to be a compatibility problem between the Rose product and the Windows media player.
It will take some time, but let’s see if there is another way.

Or, how about using ROSE CONNECT for PC?
You can control Rose products from your PC.

Thank you for using ROSE device.

Thanks @ROSELOA for the reply.
ROSE CONNECT work and I can control the RS201 with it :grinning:
I used the Windows media player only to make a screen shot to document the lack of DLNA/UpNP function.
My other devices, all older from Phillips, didn’t allow me to make screen shots.
They all didn’t work as UpNP remote device with the RS201E, they work with my NAS flawless.
I hopped to get the RS201E as Music Server for them, but this didn’t work.
Can you address the problem too the development team, please?

Hello @in_04 ,

Basically, ROSE devices are not designed to work as DLNA server.
We determined that it could be a heavy burden on the device.

Hi I know this is a thread from long ago, but is this still the case? Is the Hifi rose RS250a unable to operate as a DLNA server? I am trying to access the music and videos saved locally on the SSD on my RS250a with a program (Jriver) on my computer. Is this possible?

Hello, would you follow the steps and check if it works?

I will assume that you have connected via USB.

  1. RS150B and PC are connected via USB IN
  2. RS150B > Input/Output Setting > Set on USB IN
  3. PC > Windows lower right volume area > Click on right mouse > Select volume mixer
  4. Select speaker > speaker properties > Advanced
  5. Advanced > Default Format > Select one of the 32-bit, 44,100 ~ 384,000 Hz (studio quality)
  6. Check if you can hear the sound.

For Windows,
7. If that still doesn’t work, follow up to step 2 and download and install the installation file in the link.

Hi what I mean is, previously I was able to load the RS250A’s SSD library onto the JRiver Media Center software. And then I was able to control the Rs250a from the Jriver Media Center software. I could select music and videos to play on the RS250A similar to how the Rose Connect app works. And I could even play it locally on my computer. However I have recently done a factory reset and now I am not able to load the library. The Jriver software says there is an issue with the DLNA from the Hifi Rose. I can “see” the Hifi Rose on Jriver, but the library is empty, 0 files. I’m trying to figure out how to get the connection back so I can load the SSD library on the Jriver software

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

How is the system version information displayed on your Rose device?
Rose device–>Settings–>System info–>System version info
If it is an EA version other than 4.19 (official), scroll down and change the Rose device version to 4.19 and check if the same symptom appears.

Yes it is the lastest 4.19 version. Not the EA version

Please answer a few questions.

  1. Is your RS250a’s SMB setting status On?
  2. You connected to RS250a normally on JRiber, but when you scan, it shows 0, right?

Hi Yes that’s correct for both. SMB status is on. I AM able to locate the Rosedisc folder on the network on my windows computer, even though it is not showing under my Network folder, I have a bookmark that takes me to it. The Jriver software shows the library but it is unable to pull anything songs/videos from the library. It says the DNLA connection is broken when I try to connect to the library on the SSD. I am able to SEND music to the RS250a with the program, However I am not able to access the music saved on the RS250a through it.

We also installed and checked JRiver Media Center 32.
When adding the folder path, enter it as follows.
\\Rose device ip address

hi, thank you very much for downloading the software to attempt to make my fix. I really do appreciate it.

I am confused on your suggestion though. What do you mean when you say adding the folder path? Jriver Media Center 32 automatically connects to all DLNA networks on the wifi network, so I never needed to enter in any paths to see it.

Hi Thank you for your help on this. I was able to get the DLNA to work again in JRiver. I had to reconfigure where the network shared file was since I believe the IP address changed. I am able to stream from the HIFI rose now on Jriver. Thank you again. Apologies for wasting your time.

@Augustaprime

'm glad your problem was resolved.

Does this mean that RS250a is able to operate as a DLNA server?

@AmusedToD

Features related to searching and adding DLNA/UPnP media are not yet being considered for support.
Once the areas that require priority development are sorted out in the future, we will reconsider whether to support it.
