Urgent Feature Request: One-Button Firmware Rollback / Downgrade Option

Dear HiFi Rose Support Team,

I am writing to urgently request the addition of a simple one-button rollback feature in the Rose OS system settings. Users must be able to easily revert to the previous, stable firmware version at the press of a button whenever an update causes issues.

Unfortunately, recent firmware updates have repeatedly introduced severe bugs that impair even the most basic functions of the device. It strongly appears that new software releases are not being properly tested for even core functionality prior to public release.

As customers investing in premium audio equipment, we expect a reliable and fully functional product. We do not want to serve as unprompted beta testers for buggy software updates.

Having a dependable downgrade option is absolutely essential so that users are not left with a compromised or unusable device after a flawed update.

Please forward this crucial feedback directly to your software development team.

Kind regards,

Here’s a simple approach that has been around for decades…

You simply delay updating and waiting for the other guy to find the issues and reports them.
Corporations have been doing this for years and were usually 6 months behind on updates before implementing them.

Of course they’d update an UAT system first and then run a set of regression tests to ensure that they didn’t get hit with something and then proceeded to production.

For consumer devices… just delaying the updates as long as they weren’t security updates… works well enough.

Once in a great while I agree with Smegel. If your system is running fine, don’t upgrade until you have to.

I certainly agree with you, but the whole point of new software is to improve the device’s performance; a user shouldn’t have to wonder whether their device is working fine or if it could be slightly improved by an update. There really ought to be a single button to revert to the previous version.

I hear you cougar, I don’t think twice about updating my Apple products. But those of us who regularly read this forum know that Rose updates never roll out smoothly.

Hello,

Regarding the issues reported with version V5.11.07, we plan to verify the improvements today and release version V5.11.08.

The rollback feature for previous versions will be shared with you after internal review.

Currently, you can roll back to a previous Early Access (E/A) version by going to Settings > System Info > Select ‘Use Early Access Version’.

Please note that selecting the E/A version will Factory reset the device.

i have 2 issues after updated to V5.11.07: i have rs451 and ra280 - VU meters always on max on booth. But main problem no sound then switching from BT and optical. to work have to turn off device, change suorce to diferent and starting working, but 8 times from 10 - sound level is 5% compared to old same level 40%

@Kabeliux
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Regarding the issue where Line output is not generated in certain environments, we have released version 5.11.08 today. Please update and verify whether the audio output issue is resolved.

Thank you.

Having already had problems with updates (Rs130) I asked for 2 times for previous versions

Today I stay with version 5.9.07 which works perfectly with the Rs130 which was not the case with the following versions: 5.9.09 then versions 5.11.02 and following.

What interests me is that the Rs130 gives the best in terms of audio, the various gadgets do not interest me
