I have been listening to some music using the USB audio input on my RS250A (from a Windows 11 laptop). The sound quality is great but I get no album artwork. Is there some setting somewhere that will allow the artwork to be displayed when playing through the USB audio input?
When connected to RS250 via USB INPUT, original album art is not displayed.
When you use your Windows 11 as a source device, album art cannot be displayed.
No. USB Audio standard does not support it.
What about the rose app.
I’m not sure what you mean by USB INPUT. If you’re using a USB CD/DVD drive, then it depends on what’s on the CD. Some CDs have track identification, some don’t. Some show cover art, some don’t.
My music library is housed on my Windows 11 laptop and managed with the latest version of iTunes. iTunes (on Windows) does not currently work with the RS250A Streamer/DAC using Airplay. I can send music to the RS250A via a USB cable using the CITECH USB Audio Device Control Panel (from HiFi Rose) on the laptop and using the USB Input on the RS250A. This is a way to get music from my laptop to the RS250A. Unfortunately, album artwork does not pass to the RS250A.
Much better is (why should one buy an item from Rose, without using it’s display) to use the player in your RS250A and use the network.
One option is, to share your files through SMB.
The Rose can mount the from Windows shared SMB directories and build from them it’s own database. Then you see all your metadatas/covers.
Other option is, to install Lyrion/LMS with DLNA-Plugin (it’s free) on your laptop, import your music into and (through webbrowser or app) let play it into your RS250A.
Or you can buy Roon and use the RS250A as an Roon endpoint. This is the best solution, because here you are independent from the ugly Rose firmware, but perhaps it’s too expansive for you.
But the worst thing is IMHO to use iTunes for Windows to handle with your music library…
Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried sharing files through SMB and I got it to work. What I couldn’t figure out is how to get my playlists from iTunes to the RS250A and have them work. I will try to get up to speed with DLNA, but at this point it’s a mystery to me. I have tried Roon under the free trial and may go back to that in the future. Thanks again.
