USB link doesn’t work with my dac

For me it works perfecty with the Ifi Purifier 3, and it’s stable.

But like you I Hope Rose will find a way to solve this usb issue because it’s so bad for a 4800€ streamer

@Ramluro

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

I sent you a message. Please check the message.

@Boddhidarma @Kievhanover

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Let’s check the issue a little further. However, as I said above, Audio USB port compatibility with DAC is very sensitive, so it may be difficult to solve with software.

HiFi Rose advertises the RSA720 as a direct compliment to the RS130. The fact that it doesnt work as advertised is ridiculous. Why are we the ones trouble shooting while you dont even reply for weeks?

My RS130 is 3 weeks old and initially worked great with an Audioquest Evergreen USB cable to my Axxess Forte DAC.

Today I can’t connect to the DAC. I reset power for RS130 and DAC and it worked for about 10 minutes then I got the No DAC Found error.

Maybe a return is in order since there seems to be no solution.

Did you test it with a different cable and?or a different source for the DAC?

No, I don’t have another USB cable to use. My Audioquest cable worked for 2 weeks - no problems.

Other folks have stated multiple cables did not fix the issue. The 3.0 port does work with the DAC. Does my sound quality lessen as no galvanic isolation?

Where is HiFi Rose on this issue? I wish they had a customer support phone number, there sales volume may warrant it.

Can you try plugging the cable in a computer and test from there, that would rule the cable out-- AQ is expensive and nice looking, but not an actual USB cable.

Same cable?

No.

Thank you, Boris. Since the 3.0 ports work fine (same cable) and sound quality is not lessened, I will use one of the 3.0 ports.

I agree and don’t notice any sound quality reduction with the 3.0 port.

Cable I use - AudioQuest Forest cable (USB Type A to Type B) (.75 M)

Great, this rules out the cable as a culprit (although I would wager a case of beer of your choice that an Office Depot cable for $3 would “sound” exactly the same) and leaves the problem somewhere in Rose’s handling of those ports. Which would not be the first time…

As long as it works for you and sounds good, I’d just keep it as is then.

Here it is 9 months later, I’m a new owner and this is STILL an issue. It connects to my Chifi DAC but NOT a Tambaqui Mola Mola? Wow HiFi Rose.

I’ve created this post and what happens is very boring.

As I wrote before, I have solved this issue by insert a IFI usb Purifier 3 and it’s work well.

Recently in september I have tried an Audioquest Diamond usb cable with DBS system and it works great (without the IFi Purifier).

This may be a solution because I think Rose doesn’t have one

I will definitely keep my RS150 as a streamer, as it simply works, also with a Tambaqui, which was here for short testing. still don’t know if I should buy one.

I sold my Rs150b and took a Dac Rd160.

For the streamer I took my Apple Mac Mini out of the closet and it works perfectly.

I was thinking of taking an Rs130 but in view of the recurring problems I pass my turn.

Gillesbonatti,

i haven’t heard many (if any) evaluations of the RD 160. How do you feel it performs (other than the display bling)?
I’m particularly sensitive to the ESS DAC chip harshness. I know that the RD 160 has the AKM DAC chipset, not the ESS. Still, I’ve been a ladder DAC fan because of the lack of that harshness. How is the RD 160 in that respect?
How do you find it overall?

StandardModel

It is a very analog rendering, the Rs150b is dry, the Rd160 wider

On the drum toms it is very sensitive

The Dac Rose is now not far from 100 hours of operation, I was able to pose last weekend for some listening

As I specified during the test at home, the difference that immediately jumps to the ears is the battery strikes!! It’s full, ample. With the Dac of the Rs 150b it’s drier

I find the aeration, the stage width, the superb transparency and this dynamic while having a beautiful softness, a very deep bass (it was already excellent with the Rs150b) the holding of the latter with the Dg68 (Accuphase) is impressive.

The differences appear:

-On the voices, still so superb but a little better “integrated”, forcing the line: less projected but it is marginal because already very good before

-The consistency of the medium or high bass is more physical, less dry, in short a very analog rendering

-The depth of the scene as a result that gains

In terms of use and practical side it is perfect, the screen can turn off after a few minutes of operation and it is therefore very sober, I do not use upscale, the default setting is “By pass” and I also use the original filter (not sure to hear differences between each)

The setup is simple and intuitive, it allows for example to choose between a variable or fixed output level with levels between 1 and 9 volts in Xlr (half in Rca).

The aluminum remote control allows simple and easy access to all settings (setup, dimming, filters, upscale, volume if necessary)

The finish is excellent as on the other devices in their range, the aluminum parts are very thick and perfectly treated.

The E5000 amplifier accepts 5 volts as input, I set the fixed output to 3 volts to be close to the “standard” outputs of the brand’s sources which is 2.5 v

On the USB RS130 to DAC issue… good to know that the USB 3.0 works well. On the grounding… can the RS130 be grounded to any item, or does it have to be grounded to the DAC. My DAC (Geshelli Labs Dayzee - ships to me tomorrow) has no ground terminal, but I have a few other options for grounding, if that works for the RS130 Audio USB option. Thanks for any information on this.

Can you please give me an answer as to why the USB 2.0 connection to my Daniel Hertz Maria Amp works when I use the Rose Streamer as a Roon endpoint? The problem can’t be the missing ground!!! I think the Rose 130 is a faulty design! :rage: :rage: :rage: :rage:
