USB or I2S preference to PS Audio DSD Mk2

For those of you using a PSA DSD Mk2 which output and cable are you using for best results?

@Dr_Jekyll

ello,

The optimal output connection can vary depending on your system configuration and personal sound preferences.

For the PS Audio DirectStream DAC Mk2, many users compare USB, I²S (HDMI), AES/EBU, and Coaxial connections to determine which works best in their setup.

If you are using a HiFi ROSE streamer that supports I²S output and your DAC supports a compatible I²S input configuration, we recommend trying both I²S and USB connections and comparing the results in your own system.

Ultimately, the best choice may depend on the DAC firmware version, associated equipment, cable quality, and individual listening preferences.

We recommend auditioning the available connection methods and selecting the one that provides the best performance in your environment.

I2S creates a leaner sound. A good usb cable creates a warmer sound and a more layered sound stage, but definitely “fatter.” Try both and see which you prefer. I switch sometimes but prefer USB.
