I would like to use my RS520 to drive my main speakers. So i would like to connect the preouts of my surround receiver (for the front speakers) to rca inputs on my rs520.
Is this a valid option and if yes does the rs520 have an option to bypasses the unit’s own volume control so i can control the volume with my surround receiver?
You can use it without problems as long as you do not use a conversion cable such as balanced to unbalanced.
It can be used as long as both sides are unbalanced, such as RCA to RCA.

How do you bypass volume control, and convert the Line Level input to a power amp input ?
Is that possible ?
I’m sorry. There is no way to bypass the volume control and convert the line level input to a power amp input.
OK so to do what markd asks, you turn up the volume to max and use AVR to control volume?
Is it possible to use the pre-out and speaker terminals (L+R) on the RS 520 at the same time?
My question is because I’d like to use the internal amplifiers for the left and right main speakers and a separate external amplifier for rear speakers.

It’s possible (I have the sub and speakers connected that way to thev520). Of course it is the same signal on both pre and speaker outputs.
BorisM,
I hoped that would be the case.
Thanks.

You’re welcome!
Seems to work quite well.
