Using the I2S RJ45 port

Hi @ROSELOA and @ROSEHAN

I like to connect a Denafrips Terminator II as an external DAC to my RS150B
I had in mind to use the RJ45 I2S-C LVCMOS connector because this one is also on the Terminator DAC
Now Mr. Vincent Ong from Vinshine Audio tells me the following:

RJ45 I2S-C is LVCMOS, a very low voltage level. It’s extremely sensitive to noise. The RJ45 cable has to be as short as possible, ideally, 5~30cm max. Yep, very very short. Otherwise, you will experience noise, static etc.

Alternatively you may consider a DVI to HDMI converter and I had a customer told that it works with Denafrips I2S (HDMI)

I highly recommend HDMI i2s connection as it’s LVDS, differential signal. It has greater immunity to noise and ability to run a longer cable length.

So far…
Can you tell me if this is true, because max 30 cm between rose and terminator dac is to short
I need 45 cm at least

If this creates noise as he said, i might better use a DVI to HDMI adapter as he told me.

Also, anyone any experience with one of these options? RJ45 I2S or DVI to HDMI??

Any tips for useful adapter are welcome

@Bitspeed

Mr. As Vincent Ong from Vinshine Audio said, RJ45 I2S-C is LVCMOS, a very low voltage level. And many people don’t use it like this. So I also recommend using a DVI to HDMI adapter.

Thank you
