Vertical Line on Display After Several Hours of Use

Hello @ROSEHAN,

I’m experiencing an issue with my RD160 that only appears after extended use. After several hours of operation, a vertical line appears in the middle of the display, as shown in the attached photo. The line is not present at startup but gradually appears over time. Restarting the device temporarily resolves the issue, but after a while, it comes back. Other than that, the RD160 functions perfectly. Do you have any idea what might be causing this? Could it be a software or hardware issue? Is there a known fix for it? I’d really appreciate any insights or advice you can share. Thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards,
Philipp

@Philsisch

You seem to have a software issue since the problem goes away when you reboot the RD160.
We will also check if the problem occurs when you use the RD160 for a long time like you.

I have one question for you.
Do you only experience this symptom when you set the RD160 to sound wave and use it?

Hello @ROSEHAN,

Thank You for Your reply!

Yes, I only notice the vertical line when the RD160 is set to show the sound wave visualizer and music has been playing continuously for several hours without interruption. Once the line has appeared, it remains visible across all display modes, as shown in the second photo I attached – not only in the sound wave visualizer.

Just to clarify: Should I try switching the “Screen Saver” setting to “Turn off the screen” instead of showing the visualizer, to see if the problem still occurs? I’m happy to run this test and report back.

Best regards,
Philipp

@Philsisch

Yes, thank you.
Please reply after further verification.

We will also continue to investigate the issue.

Hello @ROSEHAN,

I’ve now completed a test over almost 24 hours with the Sound Wave visualizer disabled (screen saver set to “Turn off the screen”), and I can confirm that the issue does not occur in this case.

This clearly indicates that the problem is directly related to the Sound Wave display mode during long-term continuous playback.

Please let me know if you need any further input or if I can support your investigation in any other way.

Best regards,
Philipp

Hello @ROSEHAN,

I just wanted to follow up, as I haven’t received any further response regarding the vertical line issue after my last message from 9 days ago.

In the meantime, I’ve heard that a firmware version 1.26 is already available on newer RD160 units.
Would it be possible to provide this update for testing on my device as well? I’d be happy to install it and check whether the issue has been resolved in this version.

Looking forward to Your reply.

Best regards,
Philipp

@Philsisch

I have sent you the RD160 1.26 version file to the email below.

Please check if the same symptom occurs after updating your RD160.

Hello @ROSEHAN,

Thank You very much for sending the firmware file. I’ve received it and will install it shortly. I’ll report back after testing to let You know whether the issue still occurs.

Best regards,
Philipp

@Philsisch

I hope this problem won’t occur after updating to the new version 1.26.

If you have the same problem, please let me know

Hello @ROSEHAN,

Unfortunately, I can confirm that the issue with the vertical line still occurs even after updating to firmware version 1.26.
I’ve attached a current photo showing the system version and the same symptom.

The vertical line now even appears immediately after a reboot, which was not the case before.
:pensive:

The vertical line now even appears immediately after reboot – and unlike before, it no longer disappears at all. It also seems to have a slight green tint now (see attached image), which was not the case previously.

@ROSEHAN,

After several restarts, the vertical line has disappeared – I’m relieved, but I still wonder: Could this, despite the line being gone, still indicate a hardware issue?

@Philsisch

We are continuing to monitor the situation.

When we checked your symptoms, it is possible that it is a hardware issue, but we are not sure yet.

If the green vertical line appears again, please let me know.
