A few requests and questions for the video section of the Rose 250a

  1. Where does the thumbnail call from for a video? I have a bunch of .mkv files I have loaded directly onto a SSD on the 250a, some have thumbnail picture for the files, some don’t. I went and added folders for the ones that don’t and added a .jpg file into that folder with the specific video .mkv and I reran the DB scan but it still doesn’t show. How can I add pictures for videos missing thumbnails

  2. Please allow for the removal of the “queue” list on the side when viewing videos. It takes up valuable space to view the list of videos. There should be a toggle button to show or not show the queue

  3. Please allow the playing of videos when you go back to the main menu. Often times I want to hear the video play while I search around other things on the 250A. The video should still play in the background, but it stops until you go back to the video and play it. The video should function the same way as music file playing, it will play no matter where you are in the unit

  4. While watching a video on the 250A, please after a few seconds remove the back button and the TV off/on toggle on the upper right hand side. This distracts from viewing the video. After playing a video, after a few seconds all buttons/options on the screen should fade away so only the video is showing. It can be brought back by touching the screen.

  5. The search function in the video area is completely broken. I will search for a word I know is in the title of one of the videos saved onto the SSD on the 250A and the search list will come up empty.

  6. The search recommendations in all areas need to be refined. If I want to search “steely dan” for instance, when I enter “steely d” I would expect the first option to be “steely dan” so I can select it quickly. Instead its a bunch of specific steely dan searches, maybe coming from youtube, that I would not want to select. This is hard to explain but it should be a straight forward search recommendation first, and then specific recommendations.

  7. edit add: I think I’ve seen this brought up before but there’s no rhyme or reason for the order of videos listed. Its not alphabetical. Can these be ordered alphabetically or something that’s logical

I love this unit and would love to see further tweaks be made to make it even better. I’ve been buying concert blurays and dvds like crazy to load on to it I love it so much. Thank you

I have forwarded your request to the software team.
They will fix any areas that can be improved.
However, if we do not feel the need for modification, it will not be modified.

And for the sound source file, if you change the jpg image file name in the folder to front, the album cover will change. However, the thumbnail of the video will not be modified using this method.
If you want to add an image to a video that is missing a thumbnail, you will need to use the Mp3tag app.
