Volume Control on RS130 vs. RD160

The RS13O has variable volume output control, is it actually controlling output volume, or does it direct the connected DAC to control volume?

  1. Go into Settings → I/O Settings → USB DAC.

  2. If you see “Software Volume Control,” you can turn it Off (to force full-scale output and let your DAC handle the volume).

  3. If your DAC supports UAC2/HID commands, leaving it off means the volume knob on the RS130 will directly command your DAC’s hardware gain instead.

So in short: the RS130’s volume knob either directs your DAC to adjust its own gain (when DAC-side control is supported) or applies a digital attenuator upstream (when it isn’t).
