Volume setting for 150b

I have the Rose connected to an AV processor. Does the volume that the Rose is set at before fixing the pre out level automatically adjust to 78? If the Rose volume is set at zero before setting the pre out level, there is zero sound. If the volume is set at any other level it seems the Rose automatically adjusts to 78.

Also, how do you determine the best level to set the pre out at when going into a preamp/processor. Do preamps/av processors have input sensitivity?

Finally, what is the benefit of one method of volume control (Rose controlling volume) over the other (setting the pre out level)?

Yea, I was wondering the same thing? The setting are in milli volts. How do I know what the settings are for amp or preamp? I looked in the specs and nothing is in milli volts for either unit?

Hi Jona,
On my Nad Pre Amplifier it says Input Sensitivity 158mV (ref. 500mV out) so I’ve set my Rose RS150B to 500mV (Unbalanced 160mV) as I’m using phono (RCA) connection.
I hope that helps.
Regards Matt.

Thank you very much.
My Amp is 500mV Balanced/ 250mV Unbalanced. I am using Unbalanced RCA.
I am using the 500mV Balanced/ 160mV Unbalanced setting on the RS 150B. It has no 500mV/250mV setting.
I hope my setting is okay.

Hello

The selection of fixed values for the pre-out level settings depends on the input sensitivity of your amplifier. There is 500mV in the pre-out level settings on the RS150b.
If you do not know the input sensitivity, set the fixed value to 1000mV, and if creeping occurs while playing the sound source, take out the value one by one and set it to a value that does not appear clipping.

Thank you

Dear Rosehan,

Thank you so much for your response.

I wish to defeat the volume output of the 150B and use the volume control on my integrated amp instead.

How is this best done? Is it by increasing the volume on the 150B to full (99) or by setting the pre-out values setting on the 150B to the desired level?

Thank you for your time and help.

Best regards

Johar

@Johar

My personal opinion is to use it after setting a fixed value in the Pre-out level settings.

Thank you

Dear Rosehan,
Thank you. Will do as suggested.
