I can’t get the vu meters to work when using external dac via usb on my Rose 201E. Is it supposed to be this way or is this something that can be fixed via a firmware update?
@Hajans
Hello
It is normal for the Vu meter function to work even when using an external DAC connected via USB.
Please check a few things.
- When you play a Tidal, Qobuz, Apple Music, USB or SSD sound source, can’t you see the Vu meter icon on the top right of the playback screen?
- Does the Vu-meter work when you use the built-in DAC instead of an external DAC?
Hello
After some more testing, I have come to find out that the vu meters does work with every scenario, but not with “Roon Rose 201E external dac.”
It works with Roon, but when I use an external dac the meters moves to position then they just “freeze”.
It should work also with Roon, if you don’t upsample to or use DSD.
Thanks for pointing that out burki. It seems like there is some upsampling, but I can’t figure out where. 16 and 24 bit files are reported as 32 bits on dac. The Rose display 16 bits but on the dac it says 32 bits.
So I found out what was happening with the vu meters not working.
When I use the “software volum control” under usb output settings, and turn this to on. The music files suddenly becomes 32 bits and hence the meters don’t work. Is this something that is possible to fix?
