VU meters problem since last update

My bar VU meter on the RS250 doesn’t work anymore and all the others are very low and hardly moving. This doesn’t seem to be just me as a friend who also has an RS250 is experiencing the same problem.
Further too this question everything now seems OK apart from the bar graph which shows its stuck at - 13db regardless of volume.

Hello,

  1. Please let me know if you’re using ‘Software Volume Control - ON’.
    If so, we still have VU meter issue with ‘Software Volume Control - ON’.
    (RS250 > IN/OUT settings > Digital output menu(gear icon) > 'Software Volume Control)

  2. If you’re not using the ‘Software Volume Control - ON’, please let me know what you’ve played.
    (ex - FLAC file in USB or TIDAL, Qobuz… etc)

  3. Also, please let me know what’s connected to your RS250(external DAC?), with what cable(USB out?).

Hi,
Software Volume control is off.
I’m using a mixture of ripped flac files on an internal SSD and also Qobuz.
I’m using via analogue out only

@Neil , have you save or apply the “Off” of Software Volume control, I was like you after the update and the problem came from that.

Yes, tried that. The only way to get it to work is by setting the analogue output to fixed 2200mV. Anything less or variable and the meter needles now just twitch a bit though thee bar graph never even works at all.

same problem here, … VU meters are hardly moving when on Opt in from TV

Same here, level bar vu meter hardly shows anything. Use analogue output ,source rose radio or radio, spotify etc.
Worked before upgrade. seems also dependant on the radio channel you listen to?
Some show strong movement, some nothing. While the listening volume stays the same. Maybe smomething to do with compression of the signal?

Is the VU meter not moving even when you change this setting?
Rose Streamer > Settings > Audio Settings > VU Meter Reference > INPUT/OUTPUT
(Which one were you using in the setting?)

Vu meter reference is on input gain. All the vu meters are working. Even better than before the upgrade. Only the VU bar is not working properly. Only at peak level one green bar. So it is the reverse situation as before the upgrade, when only the vu bar worked properly. Also when listening to spotify and pausing the music, the vu meters continue?

Did some more checking, I think it all depends on the station i listen to.
For instance go to: rose radio - recommended channels - mango radio and all works fine! But on recommended channels WALM , nothing on the level bar.
Same goes for other input source.

On Streaming Roon > Mac > RS250 (Ethernet) > PS-Audio Direct Stream DAC (USB) > PS Audio M700 Mono’s the VU- meters work as before.

Only on TV which comes from Optical IN , there the needles are still hardly moving , both on input as on output setting.

Here the RS 250 works in streaming mode. DAC modus is only active when in ADC ( phono)

Would you let me know if this setting is ‘ON’ or ‘OFF’?

RS250 > IN/OUT Settings > Menu of digital outputs > Software volume control > OFF? ON?

Would you let me know if there’s any difference if you change to the other one?

It’s off. The only way that I get the needles moving is to set the analogue output to 2200mV

There’s no level meter style when set to input and a very small flicker when set to output.
Software Volume is off
