Vumeters don'work when RS150 plays ROON in USB

Hi all,

All of a sudden,Vumeters don’work when RS150 plays ROON in USB; they work when in coaxial.

Have I done something wrong ? What can I do?

Help please, I looove the Vumeters feature.

I’ve made some investigations.
This issue occurs when upsampling in ROON software 44,1 in DSD 64 or 128.

Why? Isn’t it recommended to upsample from 44?1 in DSD?

VU is only working (since beginning) for PCM, but not for DSD.
The cause is, how Rose calculates the values.
Other brands with Android based streamers (like eversolo) are able to let function the VU also for DSD.

Edit: I’m using mostly upscaling to DSD512 in Roon (for other devices HQPlayer), but this depends on the personal taste.
The VU I’m using very rare.

Thank you for the reply, I like my 150 but there are some minor disappointments; any chance one day to get the VU working with all formats?

I don’t believe so.
Using the Rose devices only as Roon endpoints is IMHO trouble free and very stable.
Using they as “normal” streamers or standalone is another theme, but also here the software has become a bit better with the last updates.

Do you mean to be clear that not using an external DAC would let the VU play even with DSD read by ROON?

I’ve tried…it doesn’t!

But reading a native DSD64 from the internal SSD lets the VU meters move…

I don’t understand nothing!
