What are you spinning now?

Hi Mikey,

You’re mistaken!

The 80s were my youth, with my first cassette recorder and my first recordings starting in 1981. From that point on, I listened more to Italo disco music, like Dan Harrow, Mike Mareen, P. Lion, etc., but I also liked ZZT (Zang Tumb Tuum) music, like Propaganda or Art of Noise (only a few songs), or Frankie Goes To Hollywood, etc. Otherwise, I listen to all sorts of music, whether it’s AC/DC, ZZ Top (I love the Texan guitar sound of Gibbons, Etheridge, Greig & Mitchell), or, as you guessed, well-made New Jazz or Pop Jazz, Blues… basically anything that sounds rhythmic to me.

Yes, and as you guessed, also techno, psytrance, or house. It really has to be well done, otherwise it gets annoying and I switch to something else after ten minutes. German pop isn’t bad either, like Udo Lindenberg, Heinz Rudolf Kunze, or Herbert Grönemeyer & Hubert Kah, to name a few.

So, a real mix of genres.

And while we’re on the subject of techno or house, check out Blank & Jones. They’ve also given the '80s a fresh look with their collection, So80s.
Here are three of my favorites.

Ah, you could talk about music for hours, but everyone has their own preferences, and the world is full of music, so everyone chooses what they like best.

Musical greetings

Me neither. I listen to some things if they sound good on my speakers. Mikey has stirred this up again :fist_right:t2::clown_face::fist_left:t2:. For example, I just listened to one song and some other tracks from the album (see picture), and after three songs, I had to stop. It was just too much for me. I only used it to test my sound system.

I came across this album in a speaker test.

For listening at high volume for a short time, it’s good (for me). The drums and guitars come across really well when testing speakers.

But ultimately, Yello is enough for me to test, and if it sounds great, then I’d buy new speakers that I could hear in a demo.

I also listen to Gothic rock bands, if the songs are well done. I think She Past Away, for example, isn’t so bad at all. Especially the album Belirdi Gece with the title “Rituel”, which was also perfectly staged by the actress Jenna Ortega in the series “Wednesday”. :muscle:t2:

Hey Mikey, I can’t open the video on YouTube. Please fix it! You can’t post something that leads to a “Video not available” page. That’s deception… I’m going to sue you.

:boom: Hey guys, don’t be so rowdy, or Rose will lock this chat again.:boom:

Here are some useful music examples, especially from @VIK.

Thank you, truly appreciated. :pray:t2: :clap:t2:
Exactly my kind of thing.

Hey Mikey, post some music examples too!

It needs to be rhythmic and in the style of Yello, Kraftwerk, or Tangerine Dream.

Or do you have any good examples of songs, of modern music that incorporates classical elements?

For example, this one below. It’s a bit too quiet for me, though; it could be more rhythmic.

@Eleven This is a huge mistake. Everyone keeps thinking about what others will think of them. But have you ever thought that if you post something, someone might really love it, and it could be exactly what they’ve been looking for for a long time?

Just always drop the album name and a screenshot. Trust me. People see it and listen silently. 90% here just read and don’t reply… so share your music!!

Ah haha, that’s a great album, and I discovered the band through the track Tool – “Pneuma.” My son studies drums, and in their course Danny Carey is basically a god, because the drum part in that song almost broke even Mike Portnoy when he tried it on Drumeo — although in reality, of course, everything becomes simple once you know the notation

By the way, another benchmark and goal for drummers is Vinnie Colaiuta’s rhythm in Sting’s “Seven Days.” Give it a listen — he plays incredible fills that are just as complex as Danny’s in “Pneuma.”

Hello my dear VIK

The CD arrived today. Without your tip, I wouldn’t have them. I was only interested in 2-3 tracks. The rest, well…

CD quality is top-notch…see picture

Thanks again for your tip, and maybe you’ll share some more great tips in the future.

Have a wonderful Easter Sunday tomorrow, Bonte :v:t2:

Yup VIK, I’m familiar with Sting too, and I’ve listened to the album quite a few times. Simply fantastic. :ear:t2::kissing_heart::ear:t2:

I almost forgot another model and actress. I also enjoy listening to Grace Jones; nature truly gave this woman everything.

:v:t2:

Here you go … on RoseTube.
Not sure how to actually share links on RoseTube thru Rose One… maybe a new feature request?

Not to mention for Boris so that he can also learn the actual poem…

@Bonte

Right now I’m at a loss of anything that I would find worth recommending.

I am listening to mostly Zen music as a way to help focus. Music that I would normally listen to while out and about like Spotify’s ‘DJ PsychoBitch’ doesn’t work well for sitting at the desk when I need to concentrate.

Same w Jazz, although for background music while I’m reading something not work releated… its ok.

On RoseTube… Tsuyoshi Yamamoto Trio … Just Thinking…Retro Jazz

On Spotify … Bohren & Der Club of Gore

Mikey!!!

Please don’t make it so complicated. We all know you can watch the videos on RoseTube if RT is working. But for this conversation, you could have just gone to YouTube, copied the link from the browser address bar, and pasted it here.

I thought you were a software whiz???

Thanks for your tips anyway. :pray:t2:

I did that, but you said it was broken.
I was playing around on RoseTube where you could just use Rose One and type in Rime of the Ancient Mariner and find it.

Also found the poem.

Sorry but I was mucking about.
Just got some speaker stands that attach to my desk so I can put my Mon Mini’s at the right height, then added a USB A to USB B 2.0 cable to my docking station so I can now get spotify ‘lossless’ from my Macbook. I’m able to play Spotify and up sample to 768kHz x 32bit via the MIDI app.

I already posted this back then, when Rose wasn’t as far along as she is today, that there are many roads to Rome. I also took some detours back then to set it up the way I wanted.

For example: Sorting radio streams (Is that even possible yet???) I listen to radio streams via Roon.

I had to add the best ones last so they would be displayed at the top. The downside was that if you added another stream, you had to start all over again. Very tedious. Or you could just leave it as is and then have to scroll even more to find your radio favorites.

So, it’s 1 a.m. here! Bonte has to regenerate now and is jumping into bed.

Maybe a regional thing.
I can click on the link and play the video.

So you will have to do your own search.

Well I know and I posted about using my DAP and its coax out via its 3.5mm jack that doubles as Coax to get lossless.

Since I moved the RS520, I was able to get a $25.00 USD 15’ USB-B 2.0 to USB-A cable to connect the two. I still have my MB20 setup via Toslink in case I want to use BT

The Mon Acoustic SuperMon Mini’s are really great in this near field set up. 3’ 2" away. Then REL at my feet.

Bonte, disable your ad blocker if you have one, or copy the link directly into Google Chrome. After restarting the browser, it worked for me.

Hello VIK and happy Easter!

Yes, I thought exactly the same thing yesterday. But I don’t use ad blockers, no plugins at all. I deleted the history in Safari yesterday, but that didn’t help either.
Then I remembered:
You had something like that a long time ago. :face_with_monocle:
Then the brainwave came. I’m in Safari’s settings (ADVANCED) and then check Show functions for web developers. Then Developer will appear in the menu bar. Then clear cache memory. And haha…video plays.

:hatching_chick: :v:t2:

Thanks VIK. Highly appreciated.

I think the playlist is great for listening to for a while. I guess I’ve always heard the wrong “psy”. The one with the extremely fast bass. :weary:

:v:t2:

I listened to a lot of stuff like that as a teenager. Well, basically anything that was or is synth-pop.

Inspired by  :+1:t2:

Or something else that I found enjoyable to listen to back then, and still do (occasionally) today.

Vince Clarke founded the bands Depeche Mode, Yazoo, and The Assembly, and is a member of the duos Erasure and VCMG.

Depeche Mode, Yazoo & Erasure, my youth in the 80s came flooding back.
