Which clock is used with i2s direct connect (RS130)

Hello fellow Roser’s (is that a thing):

I have the RS130 and I want to better understand which clock is being used with I connect the RS130 to the external DAC directly via i2s. I am assuming the OXCO clock of the RS130 is being used. I have no other connections between the RS130 and the external DAC. Thanks in advance.

Yes, this is something I don’t understand either.
In my case my Denafrips terminator II also has OCXO clock so in fact it isn’t that important but still like to know :slight_smile:

@ROSEHAN @ROSELOA

Can you please provide an answer to the above. Thank you.

@duffer5

When connecting RS130 to your external DAC via i2S, the clock of RS130 is used.
If you want to use the clock from an external DAC, you must configure it on the external DAC.

Thank you

Hmmm, I think I don’t have any options in my Denafrips to bypass or not bypass internal clock.
I will ask Denafrips about this

I2S is a synchronous connection. It has clock signal in it and normally uses source’s clock. It might theoretically be possible to reclock it on the receiver side, if that device supports it (although it sort of defeats whatever little point there is to an I2S connection in the first place) but at that point you might as well use USB which is superior in every way.
