Which is more intuitive "My Playlist" or a "Playlist Media Type"

I identify with the following media types:
ALBUMS, ARTISTS, COLLECTIONS, FOLDERS, PLAYLISTS, SONGS

I don’t understand the concept of "My Playlist’, “My Music”, etc. ← there’s a Music function which to my understanding, delineates Audio Music vs Video Music: so what is “My Music”

Which way do you prefer?
Please help me understand the concept/benefits of 'My Playlist", “My Music”

joyofmvid,

Your identification of classifications is the same as almost all music database creators.
I would love nesting in the following order
ARTISTS, ALBUMS, SONGS. in one database and
in a PLAYLIST database ARTISTS, ALBUMS, COLLECTIONS, SONGS.
Not sure what to do with FOLDERS. Maybe GENRE or TYPE?

ARTISTS, ALBUMS, SONGS. in one database
I understand this database & nesting (it is reflective of purchased albums & dowloaded/purchased songs

in a PLAYLIST database ARTISTS, ALBUMS, COLLECTIONS, SONGS.

I’m a bit puzzled with this database & nesting.

My favored playback media type is “PLAYLISTS”. Todate, I have created about 150 playlists ← each playlist is a group of songs for a particular mood/genre like morning, relaxing, party, dinner background music, chillout, new era, etc.

Please explain database #2 & its nesting. How does it differ from database #1. How can I define/play my 150 playlists?

Currently, I am proposing a UIF to HiFi Rose with this topic’s nesting (BTW, Folders is primarily a File Manager display view with icons for playback, virtual media type creation (e.g., Virtual Album, Virtual Playlist, etc). Would you be disappointed with this type of UIF? Elaborate how I could integrate your preferred database #2 concepts.

joyofmyvid,

Upon reflection, your comments make my second database unnecessary. The Folders database is fine. Make “COLLECTIONS” equal to Playlists and I think that will do it. My Playlists are identified by artist instead of moods or events as are yours. HiFi Rose tries to do this by Genres i.e., Rock, Classic, HipHop, etc. but it’s not integrated and it should be so that multiple selection criteria may be selected in a search as in Artist = Buddy Holly AND Decades= 1958 .

Many thanks for your comprehensive work to improve the HiFi Rose software.
I’d also like to thank HiFi Rose for their new reporting format which gives a lot more information as to what is being done to correct issues and the software contractor’s response.
