Why when I repatriate FLAC audio tracks to a playlist from a USB key, do they lose their album art?

@domrol

Yes, updating your RS130’s system version to the latest version 5.9.07 should fix the issue.

I updated my RS130 to version 5.9.07 and the problem you told me was solved with this version still isn’t.

Why when I repatriate FLAC audio tracks to a playlist from a USB key, do they lose their album art?

Could you solve this issue for me ?

@domrol

Are you currently using the update file I sent you yesterday?
That file fixes the issue where the RS130 wouldn’t output I2S, SPDIF, or COAXIAL when turned on or off in standby mode.

Hello ROSEHAN,

No, I haven’t yet updated the patch you sent me yesterday.
I only updated my RS130 to 5.9.07.

@ROSEHAN

The problem you told me was solved with the version 5.9.07 and the patch I/O still isn’t.

@domrol

We apologize for the inconvenience.

The issue has been resolved.

Please check a few things.

Existing music files that were incorrectly created cannot be corrected.
You should delete the album cover and then re-add it.
This should resolve the issue.

We can’t say that the existing files were created incorrectly, since the cover art for these same tracks displays correctly when playing within their albums.

It’s only when they are repatriated into Hifi Rose Playlists that some no longer appear.

I emailed you two tracks with cover art. You told me that it would work with firmware 5.9.07, that you had tested it using the files I sent you, and that everything was correct.

Why? What should I do?

@domrol

If you delete the album cover, add it back to the folder, and then rescan the DB on your rose device, the album cover will appear to be added normally.

Hi ROSEHAN

I’ve already tried this type of manipulation, but it doesn’t work.

Could you please read my last email I’ve just post to you?
My Google Drive folder contains both tracks with its cover art.

Just run a playlist creation test to see and to notice this issue?

Thanks.

Hello ROSEHAN

Have you run a playlist creation test to see and notice the problem (see my email and Google Drive link)?

@domrol

This issue has resurfaced, and we are currently investigating internally.
We will notify you as soon as we confirm it.

@ROSEHAN When I add a FLAC track from the RS150B internal SSD to a named generated playlist sometimes the album artwork is lost and other metadata associated with the track is incorrect in the playlist - like track duration or artrist. If I select the tracks from the album and simply play in the queue, album artwork displays correctly.

Screenshot shows missing artwork in generated playlist on left, but artwork visible when selected from album and put in the queue,

Personally I would prefer the team spent its time working on big problems rather than trivial ones. And I would hope that there is a whole other team dedicated to changing the chips and circuit boards and rewriting the code from scratch so that HiFi Rose can continue to be a going concern. I realize it is too late for my RS130. But then I am one who cares about future generations.

Everyone has their own level of importance for the feedback they provide here.
It’s then up to the Hifi Rose team to organize these tasks to satisfy as many people as possible.

Clearly. I am trying to influence HiFi Rose’s prioritization rather than the end users’ requests. I like my cake to taste like cake, then I worry about the taste of the cherries on top. But today I did start the process of extricating myself from the cake batter.

Surely a nice and appetizing metaphor, but let customers express their needs for improvements freely and be sure not to be able to influence Hifi Rose’s choice in its prioritizations.

Especially since what may not seem like a priority to some may just as much be to others, keeping in mind that the sound quality of our systems is undoubtedly the highest priority of all.

I am certain that I cannot influence HiFi Rose. Even more important to me than sound quality is that the unit works as expected. When it crashes or stops sending signal through my coax output when I play my music library from the internal SSD is about a million times worse than not seeing album artwork. No gapless playback with Apple Music is annoying to me, but I understand that that might not be completely the fault of HiFi Rose. What is the fault of HiFi Rose is that it is advertised as “supporting” Apple Music. If it can’t support gapless playback then the company should put that in the marketing materials because gapless playback is about a million times more important than album artwork.

But I concede your point and will not be critical of what I think are users’ trivial concerns.

The priority is sound quality, but not having it functionally is of the same priority.

It must also be recognized that those who don’t have major problem can report even minor issues, otherwise they will never be addressed by Hifi Rose.

@domrol

We are still investigating this issue.
It is assumed that the problem occurs because the scan on the HiFi Rose server or the Rose device has not yet been completed.
We kindly ask for your understanding, as this may take some time.
We will do our best to resolve this issue as soon as possible and will let you know once it has been fixed.
