Wrong Album Art for music files from NAS

@ROSEHAN I faced 2 issues with my media library which I linked to my Synology NAS.

  1. My Media Library is not showing the correct album art that is saved as cover.jpg in the same folder as the music files. Here is an example:
  2. In addition, multiple CDs arranged in CD1, CD2, CD3 and CD4, for example, are not showing in the right sequence.

I have deleted, reinitiated and rescanned the DB multiple times but that doesn’t solve the problem. Kindly advise if these can be fixed. Thanks.

@kiansoon

I’d like to confirm a few things.

  1. Does the same issue occur if you change the image file currently labeled “cover” to “front”?

  2. Does the album art display properly on your Rose device?

Could you please email the problematic folder to the email address below?
We will check the folder.

@ROSEHAN
Hi Eun-Seong,

  1. I have copied the cover.jpg and renamed it as front.jpg in the same folder. The same issue still occur.
  2. The album art on both Rose device and Rose Connect are not displayed correctly.

I have sent you the directory containing the music files, cover.jpg and front.jpg which did not display the correct album art separately to your email.

Please let me know if the information is sufficient for your investigation. Thanks.

This incorrect album art appeared in other albums as well as you can see below:

@kiansoon

I have replied to your email.
Please check your email.

@ROSEHAN I have updated to Rose OS ver. 5.9.07 and Rose Connect Premium ver. 5.9.18, but it is still showing the wrong album art and multiple disks albums are not displayed in the correct order. Kindly advise what else can be done to fix this. Thanks.

@kiansoon

I’d like to confirm a few additional details.

  1. When you search for an album title, do multiple albums appear with the same name?
  2. When you access multiple albums, do the same tracks appear?
  3. Does the same thing happen after rescanning the database in your RoseConnect app?

Hi,.

  1. When you search for an album title, do multiple albums appear with the same name? Yes. See below:

    The two album art in the middle are incorrect. The correct one is:

  2. When you access multiple albums, do the same tracks appear? No

  3. Does the same thing happen after rescanning the database in your RoseConnect app? Yes

The same incorrect album art appeared in other albums too as shown below:

Can you please advise how to fix the wrong album art issues?

Thanks.

@kiansoon

Could you please answer my additional questions?

  1. There’s something I don’t understand.
    Is one album divided into multiple albums, and how many tracks are scanned within each album?

  2. You renamed the image file to “front” and added it to the folder containing the tracks. Is that why the image file isn’t being reflected?

  3. Are all albums with the same name different albums?

@ROSEHAN

  1. How should Music Boxsets be filed? ← each boxset has multiple CDs; typically, I file boxsets as:
    • Boxset name
      • Disc 1
        • for each track on disc 1, I enter an “artist - song title” file
      • Disc 2
        • for each track on disc 2, I enter an “artist - song title” file
      • Disc 3
        • for each track on disk c, I enter an “artist - song title” file

In this case (above), I expect only one Album cover for the boxset. When user selects the boxset’s cover art, “Desired disc# is prompted”

BTW, It’s recommended that the boxset cover art has a unique icon to distinguish the boxset from a standard album (e.g., the cover art’s top right corner to have a short horizontal line followed by a short vertical line, or a turn page icon)

  1. How should Vinyl records be filed? Vinyl records have a Side A & Side B

@ROSEHAN

  1. My music files are organized as follows:

    • Composer; Orchestra, Conductor
      • Album Name
        • CD1
          • 01_Track#1
          • 02_Track#2
          • 0m_Track#m
          • cover.jpg
        • CD2
          • 01_Track#1
          • 02_Track#2
          • 0n_Track#n
          • cover.jpg
  2. In the example I provided, I have 2 multiple CD albums with the same name “4 Symphonies”. In another streamer I have, the album arts are displayed correctly and the tracks are organized in CD number sequence in a single album as shown below:
    IMG_7521

  3. This arrangement is correctly displayed when I used 150B access using DLNA folder of a MinimServer as shown below:

  4. I hope Rose 150B native album can display correctly like DLNA via MinimServer above.

  5. Thanks.

FYC: On other streamers, they created a “Boxsets” category button at the same level as the “Albums” button ← these streamers also have “Records”, “Playlists” and “Folders” at the same level as “Albums” (the specific category button appears only if there’s at least one entry pertaining to the specific category)
