Can't access files on SSD

Hi @ROSEHAN @ROSELOA

Recently, I can’t access my music files on the SSD installed on the RS130 after the machine is waking up from standby status. The album art of all disc are there but their files cannot be played. I need to reboot the RS130 in order to play the files.

And after the RS130 is going to standby again, I have to reboot the RS130 in order to play the files again.
The Storage Information shows that there is no storage list.
RS130-02-StorageInfo_resize

The File Manager shows no file as well.
RS130-04-FileManager_resize

But the RS130 can file the SSD.
RS130-03-SSDInfo_resize

I tried deleting and rebuilding the database without rebooting, it doesn’t help.

Also, I tried resetting the RS130 to factory default and reconfiguring everything again. The problem was gone for a few days. Then the issue comes back again.

Any Idea. Please help.

What type of SSD is installed?

It’s a Samsung EVO 8T SSD. It worked without issue from last mid-year.

Perhaps a bit of bad luck because only 4TB is supported. There may be a wake up process not capable of handling +4TB.
Why not power off the unit until next use? It is what i do.
Then again, this does not help you much.

The 8TB SSD was installed last mid year when I bought the RS130. It’d been working fine without problems until recently.

I have just replaced the 8TB SSD with a 4TB one, and formatted it as a new drive and copied some folders and files onto it.
Let’s see if the issue is coming back. @ROSEHAN

Having the same trouble with My RS201 and a 1Tb SSD since more than 2 years from time to time…It happen when powering up the unit. Solved each time with a reboot.

Thanks for the note.

I did experience the issue a few times when using the 8TB SSD, and resolved by rebooting. But this time wasn’t a once in a blue moon issue.

Anyway, this is day 2 with a 4TB SSD replaced. Will wait and see if the issue be gone.

@ROSEHAN @ROSELOA
I must say that HiFi Rose team keeps silence to my help request this time is disappointing. :anguished:

I read they explained that they didn’t response doesn’t mean that they hadn’t read the post.

But my post is put under Support Category meaning that I need advice from HiFi Rose staff. This is not for general discussion.

From a customer’s standpoint, at least a word from HiFi Rose saying that they are noted about the issue would be a positive and responsive attitude towards customers who request helps.

How difficult would it be to do it ? :frowning_face:

@TomT

Based on your symptoms, it seems that your RS130 does not recognize your SSD.

Please check a few things.

  1. When you connect your SSD to your PC, does your PC recognize it?
  2. If you have another additional SSD, does it not recognize it when you connect it to your RS130?
  3. Is your SSD formatted as NTFS / exFAT / FAT32?

@ROSEHAN

The SSD was working fine with the RS130 for nearly a year until the last few week.
After waking up from standby, the RS130 didn’t recognize the SSD any more. I had to reboot the RS130. Then the RS130 sees the SSD again.

I have taken out the SSD from RS130, and connect it to my PC. My PC can recognize it without any issue.

I put in another SSD in the RS130. This is day 4. So far so good. The RS130 sees the SSD without issue.

The SSD is formatted as NTFS

I also have an 8 TB Evo from Sumsang installed. No problems so far. I think that one is also a year old. Firmware 5.7xx

Yes. Mine was made 2024.03. It ran ok for nearly a year. Then I have to reboot the RS130 to recognize it in the last few weeks. So strange.

@TomT

Hi-Fi Rose products support SSDs up to 4TB. Of course, there are cases where SSDs larger than 4TB are recognized, but it is not our problem if they are not recognized.
