Digital Signals Affected by EMI

Not to go offtopic too much. The ‘digital remasters’ of the 90-ies were indeed crap. The best way to ruin the analog sound of vinyl, especially classical music. I already noticed soon that those LPs sounded muffled and lifeless.

However, modern LPs from digital (high-res) masters sound fenominal. Just 1 example I have Daft Punk - Random Access Memories on LP and in high-resolution 24-88 FLAC. Even with my Laiv Harmony the difference is not small. On vinyl the voices are eerily real as if present in the room. From FLAC it’s good hifi.

Michael Fremer once described it as the difference between ‘intimate human interaction’ and seeing others do the same on the monitor. He said it a bit less veiled :wink:

Well, to be honest, a vinyl press from the digital source is essentialy an sound thru effect box. Ok, it depends a lot how mastering for the vinyl is done (and pressing too), but I usually prefer the original recording. If original is analog I prefer vinyl. If digital, then any form of loseless digital. But on the end of the day there is a lot of processing of sound anyway on the way from microphone to the final mix. So it is a matter of taste what you will like more.

Okay i guess in your science you don’t do any actual real world testing or experience. You are totally delusional. You’re still a beginner on wiim level components. When you can actually experience the equipment we are discussing, it will be more productive. Real science starts with actually testing and taking data from the equipment discussed. Apparently you are unable to comprehend that part. If you keep making same ignorant points you will be blocked and recommended to be blocked to other regulars on the forum .
