Boris… just because you live in your mommy’s basement yelling at her to make you hot pockets while you play video games doesn’t mean the rest of us do.
I don’t know where you buy your cables but CAT 8 cables are not ‘too stiff’.

So, you’ve never had a real Cat 8 cable either. Well, that you can only get fakes from AliExpress is your problem…
Hey Mikey…please stay grounded, or Boris will give you a taste of your own medicine.
Boris
Mikey
LOL…Sorry Mikey
But seriously now!
As I posted, everything on my system is CAT 8.
Mikey, I’m sorry, and I have to agree with Boris again.
My CAT cables are also very stiff. So, forget about quickly wrapping a cable around a door frame.
My cables even said “with extra shielding” on them…yeah, right
…I don’t believe that.
That’s why I initially assumed the cables were so stiff.
The only cable I have that isn’t CAT 8 is a CAT 6e to the streamer (TDAI and what was already connected to the 520), because it and the Rose devices have a 100 Mbps interface. CAT 5 would even be sufficient for that.
At the time, I only opted for CAT 8 to ensure I was somewhat future-proof.
But why???
I don’t work from home and I don’t need to move large amounts of data back and forth to NAS or anywhere else.
And if I were to change anything again in my remaining life, my home network would consist entirely of fiber optics. Like I said…if!
…and remember, Boris will bring out the big guns if you claim something again that might not be entirely true.

Bonte.
My aren’t stiff.
And the connections seem to be easier to work with. On some of my old CAT 5 cables they would be flimsy and get stuck… ever have to unstick one of these on a rack in the middle of a row in an already tight space? (I doubt either of you have gone into machine rooms )
Stiff wire would be the old bell wire you had to punch down into blocks. They held their shape.
(I think I still have my old punch down tool in the back of a draw… probably older than you or Boris.)
Romex would be considered stiff.
I’d make a joke about viagra, but Boris would then talk about how he stole his daddy’s pills and tried it as a joke.
Okay Mike, I believe you.
Even without all the nonsense
…
I can only judge my own cables, and you’re talking about yours.
If you still have a link to where you bought your CAT 8 cable, I’d order one just for fun and see for myself.
What I mean is:
I don’t buy a new CAT 8 cable every day or month, and it’s possible that the current cables, with softer plastic (insulation and sheathing), have received an “upgrade.”
PS:
Mine are nylon-sheathed; back then, that cost an extra €1 per meter. I thought they’d be more flexible than my old CAT5 cables, which were also stiff. Is that standard now?

Stiffness is relative.
Like I said, Bell wire that you used to see in telco switches and 110 punch panels is stiff. You bend it and it holds it shape.
CAT 5,6,8 cables are all pretty much the same stiffness. I had a bunch of left over CAT 6 wire that I had a contractor run after a remodel n my old condo. (Years ago) Not as stiff as COAX cable.
Remember you have the wires and some shielding and in a PVC or similar jacket so its not going to be flopping around… but not stiff.
So its all relative. I think the last set of patch cables I bought at MicroCenter. Doesn’t really help you since you’re not in the US and they tend to have their own ‘private label’ Inland or something … but its essentially pretty much the same generic stuff CAT 8 w gold plated connectors.
That’s only because everything you have is cut-rate second hand and/or outright fake.
And it would not be funny.
Wow Boris… is that the best you can do? So ghetto.
No, guys, please don’t stop, I can’t stop laughing. My stomach already hurts…

Another absolute hoot…Boris…LOL

Finally, something you might know anything about!
