GMT +530, is it so difficult to include this time zone in RS201e?

I am using RS201e and I do not understand what is the rocket science behind bringing this feature in the updates. I even tried to select one of the other countries and toggle on the day light savings settings so as to match GMT +530 however there’s nothing that matches. Kindly include this time zone asap.

Secondly, I just want to know whether the Rose 201e goes to standby made automatically if not used for a while??

Let me answer to your questions.

  1. We can only add GMT in increments of one hour. Please tell us the region in the country you live in. If there is a country that can be added or a corresponding GMT time zone, I will add it.

  2. There is no function to automatically go to Standby mode when RS201 is not used for some time. However, there is a function to go to Standby mode after the set time has elapsed, whether or not you use it from the set time.
    If you look at the top of the screen, you can set the time by pressing the button with a clock in the shape of a moon.

Thank you

I live in India, can you please add it?

Regarding auto standby mode, if there’s an option to include it pls include it. While the device doesn’t plat anything or no input given for beyond certain amount of time that is 5mins or 10mins the device may go to standby mode to save power and/or save the device from burning out.

@ynrajesh

We tried to add India, New Delhi, but a system error has occurred and so far we have not been able to add it.

To replace it, there is a way to set the time arbitrarily.
Rose device–>Settings–>Date and Time–>Auto set date and time OFF–>Time Settings–>Confirm after setting time
If you have set the above settings, it will be fine when you put the Rose device in standby mode, but if you turn the power off completely and then turn it on, the set value will be initialized.

Lastly, we will check if the information you requested can be added, and if possible, we will add it.

Thank you

I tried setting the time manually, but as u rightly said the time goes off when the power goes off or when we power off the device, that’s not the right Method, kindly make software changes to include GMT +530, Atleast to add it manually otherwise the clock feature is totally useless, it should not be a great difficulty to include GMT +530, please add this feature otherwise I have no other option but get rid of it and buy something else, honestly no clock wud look better than clock with a wrong time…

I can give you a suggestion for the time. Time zone for the place called Karachi is GMT +500 thats the closest to my city Chennai GMT +530 So, you may try adding an option to add 30 mins to any time zone selected, something similar to day light saving. It could even be a radio button on/off to add 30 mins to the selected time zone. This will not only solve my purpose bur many out there who are looking for the existing time zone +30 minutes

Expecting your reply for the above last message

@ynrajesh

I have answered that question in another revelation.
And the suggestion you left above is also not possible at this time.

  1. GMT 5:30 is said to be difficult to add due to a bug currently occurring.
    For example, setting it at 5:00 and adding +,-30 minutes is also difficult now.

  2. Software team said that the problem that the time is changed to the original state when the Rose device is turned off and on after manually setting the time is said to be fixed.

  3. We do have plan to add the feature that automatically changes to Standby mode if not used for a certain period of time, but we plan to add it in the future. We are currently planning to focus on stabilizing the device rather than adding new features.

Support for India Standard Time GMT + 530 is a long standing issue that Rose has not been able to address for more than one year - I have given up, quite honestly.

I own the RS 150 (Bangalore, India) and bought up this issue wuth both the local distributor and Rose directly through this media on several occasions with multiple reminders.

The “software bug” explanation is very flimsy. Every decent software stack Android, IoS etc supports GMT +0530 time zone - whats so special here??

I also disagree completely with Rose that correct time zone support is a “new feature request”. NOT AT ALL. This is a very basic requirement on devices - can you imagine your android or ios phone that gives the wrong time in India??? Unthinkable.

This request to rectify a basic software issue is more than 14 months old.

This is NOT a feature request.

How would YOU like it if your new, shiny, expensive Rose device showed THE WRONG TIME, ALL THE TIME??

Lets not look for workarounds - solve the problem.

Indian software engineers are pretty decent - look at outsourcing your software development at least for bug fixes.

Hoping against hope,
Arvind.

@Arvind

I apologize for the inconvenience during use.
I have forwarded the issue to the software team. We tried to add GMT time by 30 minutes, but it was stopped due to various bugs.
However, with this opportunity, we will add it again and try to solve the bug.
And when you set the time arbitrarily, I received a reply from the software team that it will also solve the symptom that it changes back to the original time when the power is turned off and on.

Thank you

Thank you, and I do appreciate that you understand the frustration that this issue has caused for more than a year now to your customers globally.

While I sincerely hope that Rose’s software team will solve this problem from the very root and enable Rose users to truly choose “world time” on their Rose devices much like mobile phones, ipads and similar networking gear, I would recommend the following as an ABSOLUTE MINIMUM:

  1. Users should be able to manually set the time, as is possible even now. But once set, the Rose device should be able to use the network clock and keep the manually set time accurate and synchronized to network clock levels;

  2. The manually-set clock, synchnonized to the network clock, should NOT change/alter-state if the Rose device is switched on/off. That is, the manually set Rose clock should become independent of the Rose device being switched on/off.

Of course, the above is still a workaround before Rose can comprehensively debug the device clock and network timing clock synchronization issue.

Thanks again,

Arvind.
