Hdmi passthrough update

Hello Hifi Rose.
When is the update for the 151 available so that the hdmi passthrough for surround sound works.
Gr dennis.

@DennisP

We do plan to add HDMI passthrough to the RS151, but it is not a high priority at the moment, so we plan to add it sometime this year.

Hello Rosehan,

The new update
Update Version (Official) : RoseOS (SW) Ver5.9.05
Applicable Models : RS151
Still doesn’t have the Hdmi surround passthrough, worst is that it is completly out of the hdmi menu.

One of the main reasons i bought the 151 is that is has this feature.

When will there be an update so that it al works.
It is already in the manual of the 151.

@DennisP

We apologize for the inconvenience.

For RS151, we plan to add HDMI pass through function sometime this year.

I hope HDMI Passthrough is also for RS130

DennisP and joyofmvid,

What added functionality are you expecting from the HD Passthrough once it is added? Is it in the context of video or audio? I am curious about what it actually does when activated vs not activated.

When HDMI Passthrough is turned ON, I am hoping all surround sound music and all spatial music (like Dolby Atmos) is automatically bitstreamed on the HDMI port.

I have found this to not be the case, at least in my limited experience. Check out the discussion in this thread: Where can we find the adjustment of HDMI Passthrough indicated in the documentation of the RS130 and not present in the menus of my RS130 or via RoseConnect?

AFAIK, HiFi Rose has plan to develop this feature by year-end. Lets hope everything goes as planned.

It is 2026 now. The plan was that the update for hdmi passthrough would take place in the end of 2025.
When will it be ready. A promise is a promise.
Greetings Dennis Pauwelsen

@DennisP

Currently, HDMI passthrough functionality is built into all Rose streamer models except the RS151 and RS451. If technically feasible, we will review and consider adding HDMI passthrough to the RS151 and RS451 in a future update.

@ROSEHAN

So its implemented on RS130.

Just for clarification. If I had an HDMI cable to my prepro & an i2s to my DAC. Stereo audio would automatically go to the DAC. And if another song had Dolby Atmos or 5.1 audio, would the audio automatically go to HDMI or do I need to do something manually ← if its the latter, what do I need to do.

I was unable to pass a multi-channel signal from the RS130 to my AV Processor using the HDMI output. My Trinnov only received 2 channels. I gave up on this possibility very early in my ownership period. It is a shame because according to p41 of the manual:

2-2-2-4. HDMI Passthrough

•This function bypasses HD audio format sources, such as surround sound, to the audio receiver

through HDMI without decoding.

Sadly it does not. If it did, well if it did…

Two comments: (1) I don’t know why it does not pass a multi-channel signal, it seems to be built for it. A high-end streamer that passed a Dolby Atmos multi-channel signal would be highly valued by those of us that enjoy music in Dolby Atmos; and (2) I don’t understand Rose continues to advertise that HDMI Passthrough passes a surround sound signal. Perhaps something got lost in the translation to English.

Thankyou for your answer, when i bought the RS151b the manual specifically says that the hdmi passthrough can be actived so that surround sound can recieved on a surround processor.

In the last updated this option is no longer available. Very stange.

The rose 151b was for me and many other users the main option to buy it.
