Help Focus RS130's "2025 software enhancements"

Please, no trolling, no complaints & no personal comments.

  • State your RS130 product problems/complaints & customer support complaints in other Community Topics
  • If someone posts a bad post, don’t respond ← just put the user on your ignore list (to do this, click your photo icon in the top right corner > click the profile person-icon > click Summary > click Preferences > click Users in the left column > then in the Muted field, enter the “User ID” of the bad post)

This topic is mainly to:

  • help focus RS130’s software enhancement efforts by recommending the key objectives to achieve by 2025’s year-end ← note: consider suggesting a how-to method or tool, only if you strongly believe it will help expedite development efforts

RS130 Product Goal:

IMO, HiFi Rose RS130 was initially designed to be a hi-end music streamer (RS130 has achieved this: Qobuz, Tidal, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, etc.).

  • Music media playback & media server functions are secondary functions.

  • For this topic, CD Ripping is to be considered as an experimental function.

RS130’s Past Product Issues:

Based on this Community’s Topics/Posts:

  • In 2023, the main user outcry was the extremely slow scan/rescan functions

  • In 2024 & Q1/Q2 2025, the main user outcry has been the inconsistent, non-intuitive Media Playback/Server User Interface & lack of music functions

RS130’s Past Product Improvements:

  • Many reported problems have been fixed (see below)

  • In 2024, the following was achieved:

    • Redesigned database & drastically improved scan/rescan performance

    • Released V5.7.07 ← Fixed 7 problems

    • Released many other version updates (for details & problem fixes, see other topics/posts)

  • In Q1 2025 & Q2 2025, the following has been achieved:

    • (new) Classical Music Library

    • Released Version 5.9 which provided:

      • Extensive RoseTube improvements including curated playlists

      • (new) Music Streaming Services: Qobuz Connect & Symphony.live

      • DLNA Media Server playback

      • Fixed 39+ problems

      • Can now tap the 3 dots associated with a song in Qobuz or Tidal playlists & then go to Artist or Album

Planned improvements for Q3 & Q4 of 2025:

  1. Amazon Music support is planned for late 2025

  2. HDMI Passthrough multi-channel support is planned for 2025

  • @ROSEHAN, if possible, please confirm the above two objectives & identify any other objective that you can divulge to the community

What else should be achieved by year-end (6 months):

  • Assume fixes to expedited/critical issues takes precedence over function improvements and new function development

  • create one recommended objective per post

    • If you agree with a recommended objective, click the post’s LIKE icon

    • if you disagree, reply to the post and state why or state an alternative

Before enhancing functions or developing new functions, focus RS130 improvement on making the current User Interface consistent & intuitive

  • If you already noted many things to be done in other topics, create a new topic named “Make User Interface Consistent & Intuitive” & create a reply to this post showing the cyberlink to the new topic. Thereafter, all related posts to be created in this new topic.

  • To correct the User Interface’s “language issues”, enter the language issue’s post in the “Language suggestion” topic.

HDMI Passthrough feature to automatically permit playback of both surround sound & 3D immersive sound like Dolby Atmos & DTS:X. ← RS130 to automatically direct the audio to the proper port based on the audio’s format (i.e., based on the audio sound being: stereo, surround or 3D immersive)

@ROSEHAN let me know: Is the above automation planned to be done or is this automation not possible?

Create a Ticket Problem Report function in this Community. Permit user to enter a

  • title
  • urgency (e.g., standard, expedite, critical),
  • product id (e.g., RS130)
  • product function (e.g., RoseTube)
  • description detailing the problem & detailing how to trigger the problem

This function will greatly help both the software developers & users to see:

  • what problems have been reported & still outstanding
  • the problem resolution’s status (i.e., pending review, cancelled, in-progress, closed).

This function will also reduce the creation of a community topic per issue/problem.

Note to @TomT & @StandardModel ← If I remember correctly, one of you had a recommended tool that HiFi Rose can consider implementing. Please reply to this post and provide the image/cyberlink to the recommended tool. (Thanks, in advance!)
