How to power ON/OFF the RA180, RS130 and RD160 simultaneously?

Hi @ROSEHAN and other RD160+RS130 friends,

I know there’s a Power Sync feature to allow switching ON/OFF the RA180 when turning on/off the RS130.

And I know there’s a trigger IN port on the RA180; and both trigger IN and OUT ports on the RD160.

By connecting the trigger OUT on the RD160 to the trigger IN on the RA180, this would allow the RA180 to be turned ON/OFF according to the power status of the RD160.

So my question is:
What is the proper connection to allow the RA180, RS130 and RD160 to turn ON/OFF simultaneously by pressing only ONE power button on any of these three devices ?

Is it possible ?

@TomT

You can power ON/OFF RA180, RS130, and RD160 at the same time.

First, connect the Aux to Aux cable to the Trigger IN port on the RA180 rear and the Trigger Out port on the RD160 rear.

Then, you can control the power of RD160 by turning the power ON/OFF through the RoseConnect app connected to RA180 and RS130.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I’ll give it a try.

@TomT

The cable below is an Aux to Aux cable.

Thank you very much.

Hi @ROSEHAN

I have bought an AUX cable and use it to connect the RD160 and RA180 as suggested – RD160 trigger OUT; RA180 trigger IN.

However, I CAN ONLY

  1. Turn on/off the RA180 when pressing the power switch of the RS130; or

  2. Turn on/off the RA180 when pressing on the power switch of the RD160.

I CANNOT have the three – RA180, RD160 and RS130 – to turn on/off simultaneously.

I found when using the Power Sync function between the RS130 and RA180. The effect only happens when switching the power status of RS130, then the RA180 follows.

On the contrary, switching on/off from the RA180 won’t have any effect to the RS130.

Similarly, with the Aux cable connected, switching on/off the RA180 won’t have any effect to the RD160 neither. It only works when switching on/off the RD160 in order to trigger the on/off status of the RA180.

In order words, I can only switch on/off the RS130 and RA180 together; or the RD160 and RA180 together. Not three of them together.

You mentioned earlier in the post that “Then, you can control the power of RD160 by turning the power ON/OFF through the RoseConnect app connected to RA180 and RS130.”

Have I missed anything or Have I done anything wrong ?

Please help.

@TomT

I checked with the software team before and they said it would be possible.
However, I checked now and they said that you can’t turn 3 products on and off at the same time.

They said that they will design and support a function that allows you to turn 3 products on and off at the same time in the future.

Noted and thanks for checking with your software team.
Hope the update will not take too long :smile:

Tom, how’s the sound compared to your LAIV

The Harmony DAC is very nice. But RD160 is even better in the full HiFi Rose setup. :grin: :grin:
The Harmony is sweet, and the RD160 is analytical.

How does Hifi rose dac compared to the Weiss? Mine is arriving next week, can’t wait !!

I just received RD160 two days ago, I can tell you for sure that RD160 is better than my Weiss204.

Really? I have Weiss 204 and Gustard x30. I thought Gustard x30 better than Weiss too.

Is Rose DAC much better than Weiss? Can you describe?

Hello All,

I’d like to share that I successfully used a USB 5v to 12v cable with the rigth adapter to power up/down RS130 and RD160 simultaneously. You can find the follow two items on Amazon. Please remember to configure the RS130 to power off the USB port when on standby.

Thank you very much @ccl Can you please specify how they are connected between the RS130 and RD160?

I connect one end to one of the USB 3.0 / 5v ports on the RS130, and then the other end to the trigger-in port on the RD160. It worked beautiflly. BTW, I did not connect any USB dongle or CD to another USB 3.0 port. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot. That’s what guess but better be confirmed by you.
:grin: :+1:

@ccl So the on/off control of the RD160 is via RS130 only?
Can on/off RD160 put RS130 on/off as well? Probably not, right?

No, the RD160 cannot power the RS130 on or off, because there’s no trigger-in/out on the 130.

That’s what I thought.
Thank you again for providing a possible solution on this subject.
