I Bought an Eversolo T8 and am selling my RS130

I just upgraded to an Eversolo T8 and am selling my RS130. I live in Hackney in London and would prefer it if someone wants to collect. I want £2000 - anyone interested?

2K Euro isn’t a bad price.
What’s interesting… Old Guy HiFi just dropped a review. (Ed lives near me in a Chicago Burb. )
He talked about how the UI isn’t intuitive and sometimes confusing.

One of the first reviews where the reviewer isn’t gobsmacked over it.

I think its just a trade off.
Don’t get me wrong… Eversolo is making good stuff for the price, but I don’t know if I’d sell your Rose to get it… Note that that’s different than not having anything and choosing to buy something new… then you’d have a tougher decision.

The use of BT/Wifi dongles is not the best design feature. Rose moved to internal stuff in the RS451 so I think they got the message.

The T8 UI is years ahead of the Rose UI. I have both to compare. I do not know what Ed found confusing.

I do miss the bigger screen, but the T8 screen is higher quality than the RS130 one - much better contrast.

The meters and spectrum analysers on the T8 actually work in response to the music, rather than the fake movement we see on the RS130.

In my system, the sound quality is a little bit better than the rose - the T8 has much better clocks than the single 10MHz one in the RS130.

The sound quality is then enhanced even more when I use HQPlayer and NAA transport into it (something the RS130 will never have). Really really good!

HiFi Rose feels like a bit of a dinosaur at the moment with respect to the awful software development life cycle, CPU choice and ancient Android version. I needed to move on and am happy I did.

Eversolo is cheap copy of Rose. RS151 destroys t8

Seeing as the T8 doesn’t have a DAC thats a pointless comparison.
My T8 feeds into a HoloAudio May KTE using I2S via an Ian Canada SC-Pure reclocker with upscaling handled by HQ Player - thats a pretty high sound quality level that I doubt the RS151 can achieve on its own.
Have you heard the T8 yourself?

My biggest issues with HiFi rose revolce around their ancient tech stack - old CPUs, old Android, no NAA, crappy metres. Very very slow buggy software updates. No ability to support modern streaming services - I could go on.

The RS130 is certainly beautiful but it lacks substance.

I owned the rs130 for 2 years. The rs151 has better software and significantly improved hardware than the rs130, surprisingly . As a streamer , without the dac section , the rs151 outperforms the rs130. It’s basically like you get a free dac with the rs151. It is an amazing piece of equipment . In all honesty, I’d agree with you that the rs130 is ancient , but the rs151 is not. The rs151 is smooth, snappy, and sounds holographic and dynamic .

I have an esoteric n05xd, Mutec ddc and ref10. Antipodes K22, Esoteric master clock g05. Gustard r30 and ddc, Chord ultima 6, Accuphase e700, McIntosh ma352, KEF Meta blade 2, Raidho 25th anniversary x2t, Sonus Faber Nova 2, and synergistic powercell 14 and 8. I use those components to test . I’ve never heard the t8, but the quality of construction is not up to my standards, it seems more like a budget item

Interesting that you mentioned budget  The clock in the RS151 is Crystek CVHD-950 running at 50MHz and is not an audio frequency clock (it is infact a very strange choice of clock for a DAC). In order to be used for normal music frequencies (44.1N and 48N MHz) the clock signal will have to go through a Fractional-N PLL which deteriorates performance and increases jitter.

The T8 has a far less ‘budget’ approach with two audio frequency Accusilicon clocks - one for each family. These are not the best of the best, but they are actually very very good. If you take the phase noise and jitter measurements of each of the clocks at audio frequencies you end up with the following comparison

For 10Hz – 1MHz integration bandwidth @ ~45MHz:

Clock Configuration Estimated RMS Jitter
CVHD-950 + Frac-N PLL ~250–400 fs
AS318-B (native) 88 fs (specified)
CCHD-957 (native) ~82 fs
Ian Canada SC-Pure ~48 fs

The single clock in the RS151 has 3-5 times worse jitter than the Acusilicon clocks in the T8. Do you still think the T8 is a budget item?

I use external clock with my dac, so its not a factor . Mutec ref10. Ultimately the clock in the DAC is going to have the largest influence. As far as t8 quality, im talking about case work, screen size, input and output terminals. It just looks cheap to me, other reviewers have mentioned this also.

The DAC clock is only a factor if you don’t use I2S. I use I2s from the reclocker to the May and have the May PLL turned off which means the clock in the DAC is not used atall.

I dont use i2s. I use USB and AES/XLR.

Conrad, this poster Bonte thinks external clocks make no difference. Can you explain to him ?

Question, why does Esoteric , Gustard, and Mutec use 50mhz clocks if their not ideal choice for audio

Rower

I will say more, we tested the RS 151 in three systems and it was a better device in terms of sound than the A10, and despite the fact that it was cheaper to buy, none of the three of us bought the Ever Solo.

Exactly, eversolo can copy but lack the originality, authenticity, and ultimately performance and quality. Eversolo more along beginner level, can compete with Roses lower line, but definitely not flagship like rs151.

because its cheaper. For a consumer

2XAS318B = 60 Euros
1XCVHD-950 = 20 Euros

This price differential will be reflected in the bulk price for manufacturers.

Audio grade clocks, like the Acusilicon and CVHD-957, are more ecpensive than generic oscillators like the CHD-950 and other 10/50Mhz flavours of clocks.

Ever wonder why Gustard and HiFi Rose do NOT publish phase noise graphs for the ‘OCXO’ clocks?

It could be true, I still think Eversolo quality looks cheap and not up to my standards. New RS151 looks like hifi jewelry , im happy everytime I interact with it. Also Eversolo sound isnt my cup of tea.

Sorry I dont take advice from someone who only owns budget items. Your system is equivalent to what I used when I first started off, moved on way past that .
