The screenshot with the A Mode and B Mode diagrams is from the Rose RS130 manual, and the table is from the Laiv manual. I haven’t taken the time to find if any of the Laiv pinouts match either Rose pinouts but that’s what you’d need to do to answer your question.
A works, PS Audio standard.
@Nuno
I had the Harmony DAC before. Besides I2S, you could try using USB via RSA720 fiber hub to the Harmony DAC as well. The sound is more airy.
Both connections offer good sounds, though a little differently. I2S is warmer, USB via RSA720 is more analytical.
It depends on your taste.
Good morning Tom,
Glad to hear that, thanks to share your experience.
Best regards
Nuno
Thank You Sebrof,
I Will take a close look, but according to Tom, both connectors fit.
The I2S connector are the same in both Laiv and 130 i presume. That’s correct?
Thanks.
Yes. An ordinary HDMI cable works as well. You can change the I2S mode on the Laiv DAC to match with the RS130. I was using the first Laiv Audio Mode, which works the best IMO.
Thanks, i Will take a look on that. Decision made, going onto the RS130 and Laiv.
So the i2S out in Config A is the same as PS Audio except there’s channel swap was for Native DSD only.
does anyone have i2s A mode working with >dsd 256? I have some dsd 512 files and could not get the i2s A mode to work with my dsd512 (22,57 MHz). It seems like B mode might support those files but couldn’t get the combination of cable and my dac (topping dx9) to sync properly in B mode.
It might be dac dependant. However, it didn’t work for me (PS Audio MK2 and A mode). That’s why I changed to using USB.
No problem running DSD256 Native from RS130 to Holo May via 12S A mode to my Holo May KTE. I do have to disable PLL on the May to get signal to lock.
Lately, I am preferring HQ Player to my DAC bypassing the Rose. Shame that Rose won’t look into making the Rose a HP endpoint, would be perfect and I am sure perform better than a Raspberry Pi.
I was try to find out if anyone was able to get greater than 256 in A mode. Ex dsd512
Has anyone played DSD512 files?
Although in the RS130 specifications it is written that it is compatible, I did not succeed.
I wonder if it could be a pinout thing.
And where are the files? On internal SSD, external SSD/HDD connected to RSA720?
My configuration is internal SSD, optical fiber, RSA720, USB cable, Audio Analogue AAdac.
I also tried with external SSD ub connected to RSA720, with the same negative result.
USB stick directly connected on the back of the rs130
Thanks for the answer.
I will try this way too, but it should also work from the internal SSD or a memory connected to the RSA720.
Did it work as Native DSD or DOP?
