What is the maximum internal storage I can add to a Rose RB150B? I know initially was 4TB the maximum capacity allowed but I don’t now if today 6TB, 8TB or even 10TB can be added internally?
The SSD recognized capacity of the Rose device is 4TB according to the specifications. However, among Rose users, there are some who say there is no problem with using an SSD as large as 4TB, while others say it is not possible.
@ROSEHAN,
any plan at Rose Hi-Fi to test the new Samsung 870 EVO 8TB variant being soon available on the market?
The SSD and HDD to be installed in the Rose device supports up to 4TB.
However, there are times when capacity beyond that is recognized.
However, the capacity that is always recognized without problems is 4TB.
SSDs with a capacity of 4TB or more may or may not be recognized.
Nothing new: that was already well known.
I think you meant to answer “No, we have no plan to test the new Samsung 870 EVO 8TB”.
More generally I think Rose failed, when designing their last products (from RS151 on), for not replacing the SATA SSD internal storage with the newer NVMe SSD in order to be more future proof (soon SATA SSDs will not be available on the market any longer).
For instance, the Eversolo DMP-A10 (a good alternative to the RS151) supports two 8TB M.2 NVMe SSDs each.
That’s a great suggestion.
From our perspective, we believe 4TB is sufficient, so we do not expect to support 8TB for the time being.
Even if 8TB SSDs were supported, scanning such a large capacity would take a significant amount of time.
