@rosehahn and anyone willing to help. My RS130 is bricked. Same story as the others. I go to power on and it clicks but nothing happens. Hifirose sent me an email on monday asking for my serial number, I replied and have not heard anything back in 3 days. Is there anyone here who knows how to get in contact with someone? Not hearing anything for days is kind of atypical and I am beginning to get concerned that my device is now a total loss. Does anyone at hifirose read these? whats with the lack of getting back to me?
It seems that the RS-130 devices are primarily affected, as they no longer function satisfactorily before or after the update. I haven’t installed the 5.9.09 update yet because I own an RS-250 device, and the changes primarily affect Roon and Tidal users. My RS-250 works perfectly with the 5.9.07 update and doesn’t require an update.
Which RS-250(A) device users have already installed the 5.9.09 update, and what has been their experience?
Thanks for your feedback. I unplugged my RS130 and upon restart everything is working and the 9.09 software release is loaded (after I entered in my PIN#, of course. ).
Best, Jim
can i get download link for 5.9.09 and past versions for my Rose 150A ? I want to compare sound quality across them as well as update to 5.9.09
Kent ouch in ‘t plat heur
Works just fine, except for (as far as I’ve seen) a problem with Qobuz login on the device itself, and the horizontal bar VU Meter not doing much of anything.
I have no problems with version 5.9.09 on my RS130 so far.
I think it’s good that those who have no problem come forward here so that those who have problems are not the only ones to express themselves and thus distort a more objective perception among the readers.
I respectfully feel like you’re missing the entire point of the group. This is not a newsroom where objectivity matters. Having a thousand people comment that their device is working fine does absolutely nothing to help the people who have devices that are not working and in some ways minimizes the problem. since your device is working fine there is literally nothing for you or anyone else to report since “working fine” is the only acceptable outcome. So commenting with anything besides a related issue, or solution is a complete waste of time.
But that’s part of the purpose…
You may have a problem.
Others may not.
It can help to not only put things into perspective, but also help to diagnose what’s wrong with your unit.
You could have a defective unit. You could be using a setting others are not. Or it could be something else in your audio chain.
The other thing is that if people come and only see the negative issues w the unit… they may get the wrong idea.
Positive feedback is helpful too.
Sorry, but you didn’t understand the gist of my statement.
Everyone has the right to express themselves, but naturally, it’s more the people who have problems who speak out.
For readers, this can distort their assessment and choice of actions.
If at least as many people who do not have problems speak out, the ratio is more representative of reality and this does not prevent the problems from being corrected by Hifi Rose.
Thanks Smegel you understand the meaning of all this.
I don’t quite understand why you’re asking the manufacturer for help when they won’t be able to help remotely. You need to send your device to the distributor, who is the guarantor and is obligated to repair it free of charge within two years under warranty if the failure is not caused by the user. There’s clearly something wrong with the power supply.

Hello,
Well, after hearing serious feedback from other RS130 owners, I also return back my RS130 to firmware 5.9.07 and I’ve listen attentively.
I noticed a real sonic change between the two last versions:
- more transparent soundstage
- more pure sounds
- the volume is noticeably higher
I confirm that I had no issues with firmware 5.9.09
But musically, I find the sound better with firmware 5.9.07 and I prefer it.
Now, I’ll probably have to:
- reinstall the patch for the random loss of audio flow between my RS130 and RD160.
- reconfigure the Activity on my Logitech Harmony remote to skip the update window to 5.9.09
Once we’ve answered “NO” to updating to a higher firmware :
-
could you keep the answer in memory so the system don’t ask again?
si non, - Could you to send us a patch to by-pass this windows, applicable to any firmware version ?
Thanks for your attention, you may have perhaps explanations for this.
Unfortunately, I think we won’t have any explanation
This morning, after checking to see if there were any issues with this software version, I downloaded the new version. To my surprise, the sound quality seems much better after the update when I play music from an external hard drive (I haven’t tried Qobuz or other sources yet). I experience more and deeper bass, a warmer and more beautiful midrange, more detailed highs, better dynamics, and improved stereo imaging. The equipment I used is: HiFi Rose RS150B, balanced to a Yamaha A-S3000 amplifier and JBL L100 Classic MkII Black Edition speakers. A minor issue that remains, as in the previous version, is that in the Rose app on the MacBook, the number of visible music albums on the hard drive is limited. On the iPad and iPhone, everything is visible. There are approximately 800 CDs on the hard drive.
The question to ask is why an update positively or negatively modifies the audio rendering when it is not mentioned!!! Totally abnormal
Feedback from me too for the RS130:
-
The update ran smoothly and without delay.
-
The login errors via the app are gone. Everything works as it should.
-
The VU meters work fine for me.
There was a thread discussing different sound qualities: Rose/Roon/Tidal, etc. In addition to my actual job, I am also a musician with very good hearing. Not golden ears, just to be clear. But very good ears :). I also noticed that when listening to the same song in comparison, the sound quality via Roon was reproducibly “worse” than when playing it via the Rose app. It was as if there was a slight veil over the sounds with Roon. That is no longer the case after the update.
For me personally, the update fixed everything that bothered me or didn’t work.
Thank you, Rose, you’ve done a great job.
RS130 and RS520 both updated without incident and are performing beautifully here.
Yes, and I can say that after this latest update, the music has more harmony, it’s more expressive. My device is RS130 on MSB Analog DAC via USB. Congratulations, rose!
