[Official] Ver 5.11 (Rose OS 5.11.07) SW Update Notice

Over here with RS130 and latest update same problem. VU meters almost at max and they don’t move

The updates have been successfully installed! The arrow indicators are also in the right corner, I confirm.

I have sent this message to support.

Subject: Severe bug after firmware update: Extreme VU meter clipping on Hi-Fi Rose RS151

Dear Hi-Fi Rose Support Team,

Following the installation of the latest firmware update on my Hi-Fi Rose RS151, I encountered a critical issue with the signal level display.

Issue Description:

  • Symptom: Even with a very low input signal, the VU meter display constantly pegs near maximum deflection (clipping). The signal meters are heavily overshooting, rendering the VU display effectively unusable.
  • Concern: I am concerned that this is not merely a visual display bug, but that the digital input signal itself might be incorrectly processed or clipped internally.

Troubleshooting performed so far:

  • Adjusting the audio settings (specifically the source input gain / volume level regulation) had no effect on the VU meter behavior.

Request:

  1. Please investigate promptly whether this is strictly a display scaling bug within the VU meter visualization or if the internal signal processing is actually distorting the audio path.
  2. If this is a known bug introduced in the latest update, please let me know when a hotfix update will be available, or provide instructions on how to roll back to the previous firmware version.

I look forward to your swift response and assistance.

HiFi ROSE 팀의 모든 분들께 따뜻한 인사를 드립니다.

Why isn’t anyone from the HiFi Rose team responding?

My HiFi Rose RS151 running Rose OS version 5.9.08.1, where everything works perfectly and the audio quality is simply spectacular.

Before updating to the new version, I would appreciate it if someone from the HiFi Rose development team, or another person with the appropriate technical knowledge, could answer the following questions:

Have there been any changes to the DAC’s operation or performance, or to the audio quality?

Have there been any changes to the preamp output level settings?

Have there been any changes to the settings related to mV Unbalanced?

Have there been any changes to the input and output configuration?

Have there been any changes to the operation or behavior of the digital filters?

Is the Minimum Phase Slow Roll-off Filter still available for selection?

Is the actual analog output level via RCA and XLR exactly the same as in version 5.9.08.1?

Has the audio signal processing or playback path been changed, even if the DAC and filters remain the same?

Will my current settings be preserved after updating, or will any audio settings be reset to their default values?

부에노스아이레스, 아르헨티나에서 진심으로 감사드리며, 좋은 하루 보내시길 바랍니다.

It’s always the same shit with updates! And on top of that, technical support doesn’t get back to you in a timely or proper manner.

What i still miss is multiple entries in the tags and a seperator sign ‘;’ as can be seen in the screenshot;

image

For example genre is reduces to one word when it should be several separated entries as can be seen in the screenshot. → Abstract;Contemporary;Ambient should be 3 separate genres not 1. The same goes for all other multiple entries in the tags.

and there does not seem to be a difference between Artist and Album Artist

These tags are the official norm for tagging music files and put them into a DB for search, sort, select whatever.

Thank you for your consideration

Following the latest firmware update, my Hi-Fi Rose RS151 is suffering from critical, highly reproducible defects that render the unit virtually unusable. It is extremely disappointing that software with such obvious flaws was released to customers.

Below is a detailed list of the issues introduced by this update:

  1. Severe VU Meter Pegging & Clipping Display:

On digital sources or even low input signals, the VU meters instantly peg to maximum level and permanently clip. The visual metering is entirely broken.

  1. Complete Mute on Analogue Line In / AUX In & Dead VU Meters:

The analogue line input (connected to my turntable) remains completely silent upon selection.

Audio output can only be restored by performing a full system reboot of the unit.

Paradoxical behavior: Once audio is restored after a restart, the VU meters do not show any movement at all and remain completely dead.

  1. Reproducible Signal Loss Upon Source Switching:

Switching away from AUX In and back to it results in total loss of audio again.

The analogue input becomes muted once more, requiring yet another full reboot to get sound back.

This sequence of critical bugs indicates a severe lack of quality control for this firmware release. I expect a prompt response addressing the following:

  1. Immediate Fix: When will a hotfix firmware update be released to address these critical issues?

  2. Rollback Option: Please provide immediate instructions and access to roll back the device to the previous, stable firmware version.

I look forward to your urgent assistance in resolving this matter.

Best regards,

VU meters on my RS250 are stuck on max after this update.

Also has the hdmi out visual changed? The album artwork on my TV via hdmi now has a background formed from a fuzzed out version of the album cover, but the quality is poor.

The background used to be a prevalent colour from the album cover which was much nicer. The quality of the album art picture file is not sufficient for it to extend to the size of a flat screen tv. Poor design choice.

They really messed it up big time this time.

Well, now it’s weekend so don’t expect any reaction before Monday.
It’s weird every time when things are fixed with an update other things which worked fine before the update are affected and don’t work anymore.
Really frustrating :scream:

After installing the previous version this summer I returned to 5.9.07 which works wonderfully on my Rs130

From what I read it is very likely that I will not make this update

The software for these devices must be a mess. Rose needs AI to step in and fix it for them before it is too late.

When will you finally start listening to people? I’ve written several times that before you release software for your devices, you should test it yourselves to ensure nothing breaks—because, unfortunately, you often end up breaking things.
And as I’ve said many times, your apologies won’t help if you fail to grasp a simple fact: you don’t have IT specialists who truly master both the system software and the applications. The longer you refuse to admit this to yourselves, the sooner people will turn their backs on.
When I owned the RS 250, practically nothing ever went wrong after an update—there was one minor issue, but nothing major. Now, with the RS 151, things are really poor, and after the latest update, they are very, very, very poor. It’s time for a change of IT staff, because the current ones don’t know what they’re doing. That’s the sad truth. I just don’t understand how some people installed it and are happy; they probably didn’t check everything, which is why it seems fine to them when, in reality, it’s poor. You should roll back the latest update so that no one else installs it on their devices.

Personally, I’m holding off on the update for now because of the negative feedback I’m seeing—but I’ve already said this, and your apologies simply aren’t enough.

NOW after upgrading my 192khz + files play on the RS150B at 96k regardless of in/out setting. I need this fixed or this machine is garbaage to me.

Proble is on both HDM and USB and it won’t even resample to above 96k

@Gillesbonatti : ton pb de DSD natif sur USB est-il résolu ?

How to get previous version?

EDIT: Ahh Ok, 192+… I don’t have it (DXD ?)

That seems to work on my RS150. DAC via USB or I’m misunderstanding something:
