Solved: VU Meter Bug After Firmware 5.11 (RS151 / Rose OS)
If you are experiencing issues where the VU meters freeze, lag, or stop displaying properly after updating to Firmware 5.11, there is a working fix: updating to the current Early Access (Beta) Firmware.
On my RS151, this exact step completely resolved the VU meter display bug.
Step-by-Step Guide for Early Access:
- Join the Beta Program:
Go to the official HiFi Rose Forum (forum.hifirose.com).
Sign up in the Early Access Program section using your Rose ID / serial number to register your device for test updates.
- Run the Update on the Device:
On the Rose display: Go to Settings \bm{\rightarrow} System Settings \bm{\rightarrow} System Info.
Tap Update. Once registered, the latest Early Access version will be available for download.
Allow the update to install completely and restart the device.
- Important: Perform a Factory Reset:
To ensure the updated display drivers and configuration take full effect, a factory reset is recommended: Settings \bm{\rightarrow} System Settings \bm{\rightarrow} Factory Reset.
(Note: Network file services like SMB/FTP will need to be re-enabled after the reset).
Conclusion & Current Status:
VU Meters: Running completely smooth, responsive, and working perfectly again!
Minor Cosmetic Bug: On the HDMI output, the album cover in the background is currently rendered quite dim/faint. However, this is purely cosmetic and does not affect performance.
