I decided to open this topic because there is very little technical information and specifications from HiFi Rose.
The specifications of the SFPs in the package are not specified anywhere, nor what they can be replaced with.
Also, software updates cannot be downloaded from the official page (as with all other manufacturers, and even the other Rose products) but a request must be sent to the forum moderators and then you will receive it by email!
Communication with the support service is sublime, but completely lacking!
What experiences have you had with the RSA720, what SFPs do you use, what sounds best with a DAC connected via USB to it?
No one really tried to improve the connection of RS130 to RSA720?
Please request the RSA720 update file via the email below.
Then I will deliver the update file to your email.
eunseong96@citech.kr
We are constantly checking for DACs that are not compatible with the RSA720 and trying to make them compatible.
If the update fails in the middle, please let us know where the update failed.
Welcome back Rosehan,
Your support is very weak and usually very delayed and when it comes it is often beside the point.
I gave up hoping for something good from you after I requested a few months ago (both directly in the support section and in the forum section and then directly by email to rohehan).
A few months ago you said that you would inform the citech management about these problems and you would send me their answer.
You have not sent anything! For a european citizen, you are a big disappointment and totally opposed to interactions with the other top korean companies (Aurender, Samsung, etc.)
To help you reach all the points in formulating your answer, I will number the problems:
- why are the software updates for the RSA720 not found in the official support/download section of the hifi rose website, like the rest of the rose products?
- what was the result of the āconstant checksā of compatible DACs since the release of the RSA720 until now? As far as I know, you released only one firmware (VL671_82_00_42_00_RSA720_20230906) which you distributed by email only to customers who reported the malfunction on the forum.
- You have not specified anywhere how you check if āthe update fails in the middleā so that the event then the client informs you!
- You have not specified anywhere what are the specifications of the SFPs provided in the RSA720 package, what are the specifications of the SFP port in RSA720 and RS130.
- What other SFPs are compatible with the SFP ports of RS130 and RSA720?
- If the SFPs supplied with the RSA720 become non-functional, what can they be replaced with, considering that hifi rose does not offer SFPs for replacement?
- regarding your answer, that if I send you an email to eunseong96@citech.kr will you send me the update for RSA720, please specify which update you are sending, the same one you sent a few months ago (VL671_82_00_42_00_RSA720_20230906) or another new one?
We will answer your questions.
-
The current RSA720 update has not been uploaded to the HiFi Rose website because it does not improve compatibility with all problematic DACs.
We are distributing it personally only to specific people who are experiencing problems. -
There are many DACs in the world. We are still working on fixing the issue to make the RSA720 compatible with as many DACs as possible.
-
Even if you update RSA720, you can check whether the update has been completed using the version after the update.
4,5. RS130 does not support SFP+ modules.
The ports on RS130 are for SFP only.
The maximum throughput of RS130 is 1Gbit/
- We do not have any new update files for RSA720 yet.
Hi ROSEHAN,
would you be so kind and list DACs compatible with RSA720? And also post a video where a DAC commensurate in price with the RS130 is successfully connected to the RSA720?
My Tambaqui has been on the market for many years now and I have not been able to use it with RSA720.
Thank you very much!
Are Chord DACs compatible? I own a DAVE & MScaler and connecting my 720 to my 130 (via SFP) returns the dreaded āno DAC foundā.
Another disappointing answer from you Rosehan. I had no expectations anywayā¦
- All serious companies in the rest of the world put their software updates on the official website. I have not come across any cases, except for hifi rose, which send updates only to customers who complain about malfunctioning.
RSA720 has been produced since August 2023 and in a year and a half you produced only one software update. At this rate, I think it will take you 1000 years to cover all the DACs on the market. - Everyone knows that there are many DACs in the world, and new ones appear every day. Wasnāt it more correct to publish the list of compatible DACs that you checked and not to deceive the customers by this omission?
- You gave an ambiguous answer to this question, besides the subject. The question refers to the concrete way, how and with which software tools, in case of failure of the update in the middle, an image of this fact can be made so that the client can then inform you.
- Either you donāt have the necessary knowledge, or you pretend not to understand. The SFP modules provided in the RSA720 package are SFP+ (as Zaboks also told you on October 16, 2024 in the RS130 SFP brands thread, see attached), who has since asked you what they can be replaced with. You didnāt answer even now.
Then how RS130 does not accept SFP+ modules when SANOC modules are SFP+???
Know that the specifications of an SFP module do not mean to say whether it is SFP or SFP+. It means what capacity it has, what wavelength it uses, what type of laser, what type of fiber, etc. (see attached what data your supplier Sanoc presents).
5.+6. You didnāt answer at all. Didnāt you read it? Donāt know the answer? If one or both of the modules supplied with the RSA720 break, do I have to throw the product away??? - I had no hope.
The RSA720 does not function correctly; is not fit for purposeā¦it is being returned!
Does not recognise the RSA780, or my Chord DAVE.
Gone!
Iām sorry to hear thatā¦I still hope hifi rose can make it work properly. The advantage of optical fiber is obvious, and the industrial alternatives of USB hub with SFP port look much worse. The leaders in digital audio dCS, MSB have optical fiber connection in their top productsā¦
It is a poor show reallyā¦HiFi Rose have evidently released an āunsortedā product - witness the surruptitious firmware update protocol (I wish it were that structured).
Unfortunately, after discovering today and reading here, I no longer have any hope:
