[OTA] SW Ver 4.5(Rose 4.5.05) Software Release

Playlist Synchronization

You can conveniently bring your saved playlists and favorites from the streaming services you’re using (Tidal/Qobuz) to ROSE by using the synchronization.
If your account has changed, you can also export your playlists and favorites saved in ROSE to streaming services (Tidal/Qobuz).
When using the synchronization, all changes made to the playlists will be reflected simultaneously in ROSE and the streaming service.
Now, you can conveniently use playlists and favorites without the need to manage them separately in ROSE and each streaming service.

Easily manage files with the File Manager

You can easily manage files stored on USB and SSD in ROSE. With the File Manager, you can copy music files from connected USB storage to SSD or from SSD to USB storage while listening to music or watching Rosetube.
Copy ONLY for now. More features such as delete, move, rename, and creating directory will be added in the future.

What about “RC Premium - MacOS” ? Is it also going to be updated ?
Any news about the DB scanning ?
Why do you mention RS201(A) when the current model is RS201E ?!

You do know that SMB 2.0 is 17 years old? Was doing it properly and implementing at least 3.0 too much to ask or what?

i have Updated my Rose RS520 but do not see any difference in behaviour of Playlists and other Favorites. Is there a tutorial or similar for further details?

I updated RS150b, the file manager function works very well, very fast file transfer. VU mode also works perfectly when using the USB DAC output. For the moment everything seems ok.

Thanks Team Rose

Why would that be needed? the issue was, that on most NAS SMB v1 was no longer supported.
I would have preferred NFS instead of SMB as there is a Linux underneath.
Let’s be thankful, that they fixed the SMB v1 issues, so many suffered from.

Hello,

@EdwardPT

  1. RC Premium - MacOS will be updated in 7 days, together with Windows version.
  2. I’m sorry to confuse you, RS201A is totally same model with RS201E. RS201A is for Korea and RS201E is for other countries. They were called differently in the early days to distinguish them, but there is no difference in functionality and parts.

@JohnHJohn
In this update, it would have been great if we could have supported SMB3 right away, but it takes more time and effort to support SMB3. However, since there are many users experiencing security issues and inconveniences with SMB1, we have targeted SMB2 for the update. We plan to stick with SMB2 for the time being.

@yugan
I’ll update tutorial for synchronizing and file manager soon. I apologize for late update in tutorial.

@ROSELOA
Thanks for the info.
Does this new release fixes the DB lengthy scanning time ?

While the post announces the support for the version 2 of the SMB protocol, it seems to be able to use version 3 as well. I’m not super sure whether is it full support or not, either way there should be some sort of support for it.

Though, I have to say that having V2 support is already good enough. At least it’s now faster and more secure than the obsolete v1. V3 support is just gilding the lily.

Stop complaining everyone. The MINUTE I updated my RS-250…all the issues of not being able to connect NAS drives and other music from the Network …now ALL WORK PERFECTLY with SMBv2…

Thank you HiFiRose Code-Guys…it was a big update yesterday… every network connection issue, of connecting external music sources, all now work as of yesterdays update.
Thank you,
Bill Costello

Great update with the included file manager app and smb v2.
it seems a bit faster via smb2 connection.

But I have a tiny problem with file management via smb2 on my Mac.

When I try to delete a folder on the Rs250 ssd, I can’t delte folders because the finder (file manager) is telling me that the folder is in use.

I restarted the RS250, re-connect to the device and still the same problem.

Strange behavior, I can rename the folder… this is strange because when something is in use you can’t rename it?

there are no special characters in the folder names.

Basicly a great enhancement update for my RS250. Its nice to see the further development.

Already installed and tested.
Good work with the File Manager but the DB Scanning Time still is too much painful lengthy… :zzz:

If you have a large collection, maybe go with Roon is a better way - but of course needs extra Soft- and Hardware. I have a medium collection - 6500+ Album or 124000+ Tracks.
I have a High-end PC, Fast NAS, both connected with 10 GB/s LAN - I would never change back.
I love my RS150 for how it sounds, and looks - enough to enjoy music.

@aswiss
The DB Scanning process is obsolete and excruciatingly time consuming even with small collections.
This problem has been reported by many users. Rose must do something about this, otherwise they will lose credit (and clients) much faster than the DB scanning process… :sunglasses:

others can… for free :wink: :smiley:>12000 album / >150000 tracks. Plex need max 60 Sec. to add new albums…

Exactly the same problem here with my Mac ! :raising_hand_man:

Well… Compared to the original first firmware from when I bought my RS150B there has been made a huge improvement in both functionality as stability
So I would say, keep up the good work HiFi Rose!

@ EdwardPT
a small workaround related to the folder deleting issue…

I configured the ftp connection on RS250 and then connected via Filezilla on my Macbook. Then I was able to delete the undeleteable folders. it works for the moment.

i also checked file transfer via ftp protocol. with smb2 it is much faster now. maybe smb is obsolete in some cases?

Thanks @rikibu
A nice workaround but I do think Rose should look at this and fix it (without the need of users shortcuts)…

I am sure the dev team will take a look at this and other things too. especially to optimize the db scanning engine and functionality in the future / near future.

the good thing is, the Rose software gets better and better and is in active development, therefore i cant understand some complaints from some people here.
