PIN CODE input complicated

Dear HIFI Rose support!

I am using the RS130 together with my iPhone as a controller. Every time I power on the RS130 with the remote control, I have to walk up to the unit and manually enter the PIN code before I can use my iPhone.

I have to push the settings icon , then the system settings and the a request for the pin code shows.

This feels quite inconvenient, since the whole idea is to be able to control the device remotely. Is it really necessary to enter the PIN every time after power on? Is there any setting that allows me to save the PIN, disable it at startup, or use another method to unlock the unit automatically?
I would really appreciate your advice on this matter. Am I doing something wrong?

Best regards,

Göran Stierna

And if you press the power button on the device, does the same thing happen with the PIN? Does that eliminate the problem?

Dear HiFi Rose users

There is no way to hide the PIN code.

Thank you

Dear HIFI Rose Support,

Thank you for your response. I understand that the PIN code requirement is in place due to EU regulations for security, and I respect that.

My intention with my previous email was not to question the existence of the PIN code, but rather to ask for clarification on the most convenient way to enter it.

Currently, I have to walk up to the RS130 unit, press the settings icon, then system settings, and then manually enter the PIN code on the device’s screen before I can use the iPhone app. This feels unnecessarily complicated and defeats the purpose of being able to control the device remotely.

Could you please provide a clear, step-by-step guide on the simplest way to enter the PIN code? Am I missing a feature or a setting that would allow me to do this more easily, perhaps directly from the iPhone controller app after powering on the unit?

Your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

St off or standby the Rs130 does not ask me for the pin code. (Version 5.9.07

It is only requested if I enter certain menus: Bluetooth, Wifi etc but under no circumstances for music playback

@Gorsti

We will also check if there is a more convenient and easier way to enter the PIN code rather than having to enter it on a specific screen when rebooting the device.

You are completely mis-interpreting the EU regulation, nobody requires a PIN code for the User Interface when starting a device at home. What are you protecting against with it? Against the users?
Absurd.
Article 3.3 (d)** – Radio equipment does not harm the network or its functioning nor misuse network resources, thereby causing an unacceptable degradation of service.
Article 3.3 (e)** – Radio equipment incorporates safeguards to ensure that the personal data and privacy of the user and of the subscriber are protected.
Article 3.3 (f)** – Radio equipment supports certain features ensuring protection from fraud.

All of these are backend level modifications to how you handle network traffic, encryption, where and how you store data and manage access to it. Any half-decent software developer can handle this in a completely transparent manner, through the already EXISTING logins you have on your device for the Rose account for example. You MAY add a PIN feature, but it changes absolutely nothing on YOUR compliance requirements. It’s the same concept as with a phone - the user can chose to have a PIN, or they can remove it entirely.

It seems to me that entering the PIN code doesn’t work the same everywhere.

  • After the update, I had to enter and confirm the PIN code on my device (RS250).
  • No prompt on the tablet (Samsung)
  • No prompt after turning it back on from standby, either on the device or on the tablet.
  • No prompt for access to the settings on the device.
After completely turning off the device and restarting it, I have to enter the PIN code again. After that, the operation works as described above.
That’s how it should work, and hopefully that’s what the ROSE Software team intended.

I’m so frustrated. My Bluesound Node X in my office does not require the supposed EU requirement for a PIN every time I power-up. Please fix this @ROSEHAN to allow for a seamless hifi experience. Little by little these ongoing coding issues are pushing me to trade in my RS130 for a Lumin U2, which I’m now thinking I should have bought in the first place. :-/

@JimmySandman

Yes, I’ve forwarded your request to the software team.
We’ll double-check whether it’s possible to hide the PIN code field outside of the EU.

@ROSEHAN, it’s also not clear to me why a PIN code is needed if the device is hooked up via wired Ethernet.

That’s right . Extremely ridiculous idea with this PIN requirement. ROSE …wake up just wake up

The very fact that other devices operating within the EU don’t have PIN codes indicates that it’s possible to opt out of this in Rose. This requires further investigation and software updates, as it’s certainly possible.

Dear HiFi Rose users

We apologize for any inconvenience caused regarding the Pin code feature.

According to the latest regulations, effective from the second half of 2025, it is absolutely mandatory to obtain RED certification (Radio Equipment Directive) in order to distribute and sell wireless electronic products in the European Union (EU) market.

This is not optional; it is a legally required obligation, and without RED certification, entry into the EU market in any form is not permitted.

We are currently checking whether it is possible to hide the Pin code for countries outside the EU. However, please note that the process is not straightforward.

While you’re doing this, also see if you can disable the need to enter a PIN if the device is hooked up via SFP, either Ethernet or fiber.

Dear HiFi Rose

I’m from Switzerland and Switzerland is not a member of European Union and regulation.
But I have problems with set up the streamer and the pin code.

  • At first, I install on my tablet the Rose HiFi App (black with golden letters)
  • With my new RS250A I went through the first installation procedure.
  • After the installation I can select radio, country, ratio station and play music from the selected radio station
  • But when I select the “setting button” I get the window information, without for example the information of the IP
  • When I select the field “view IP”, the window jumps to the window " set Pin Code"
  • Its not possible to enter the pin code (min. 8 numbers, same pin as in the app) and the message arrives,
  • I thought to do a factory reset next, but that is not possible and start the installation again from beginning. But I can’t find any possibility to do this.
  • Some settings are possible in the app, but not factory reset!

I ask for help to solve the problem

Thanks and regards
Chruesy

After pressing PIN code, you should be able to set an eight-digit code, which you’ll then need to confirm in the window below. Perform a hard reset. This means unplugging the player, waiting a few minutes, and then plugging it back in. This may help, as something must have frozen if you can’t enter the PIN code.

@chruesy

Before you can use features like Storage, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Device Management, and User Account, you must enter the PIN code. Please confirm a few things:

  1. At the PIN code screen right now, are you unable to enter the full 8 digits?
  2. After unplugging the power cable from the rear of your Rose device and reconnecting it, are you still unable to enter 8 digits on the PIN code screen?

Please provide a more detailed explanation.

Thanks for your answer

  1. At the PIN code screen right now, are you unable to enter the full 8 digits?
  • It’s not possible to enter even one digit
  1. After unplugging the power cable from the rear of your Rose device and reconnecting it, are you still unable to enter 8 digits on the PIN code screen?
  • I did unplug the power cable, reconnect it, and it’s still not possible to enter even one digit in the field “Pincode” and also in to the field “confirm the PIN code”. Please see my screen shoot.

When the Shift key is pressed, the numbers should be displayed on the on-screen keyboard
