(+) / (-) rose rs130

RS130 is overpriced like 1000 dollars overpriced.

RS150B is dropping in value very fast. Used markets are even dropping to around 55 to 60% MSRP. People now see it was hyped too much with too many bugs and services that are reducing. Why in gods name make a streaming transport and make it even more money than the Stream/DAC?

Anyways Im using my RS150B as a streamer only works fine bit wasteful of the dac. Even try to sell y RS150B for 65% MSRP… really nobody wants it… hence value and reputation if Rose is dropping rapidly in the hifi scene.

Anyways as streamer dac, I was happy until all the bugs and weird updates. As streamer only is significantly overpriced.

If need a streamer, I would say buy an other streamer and a chormecast. Stream via ROON and you have the same feedback on screen of your TV. Am sure a lumin mini will preform the same for half teh price.

I agree
I did sell my rs150 for 2950 euro which is I think a good price because sold it within few days. It was 1,5 year old.
Had to pay 3950 euro for the 130 so have to add another 1000 euro
Let’s hope it’s worth the money :moneybag:

On markets RS130 is recommended the price 4.770€ …
Maybe yes the price for RS130 is overrated.
In the event that everything works as it should, including support, application, and reliability, the hifi fan will surely be pleased. In this case, we have to hope that this will happen from the first sale of the device …

Agree, but to be honest I think the software is the same as 150
So the difference should be in the hardware.
I did get a good discount but on the other hand, margin on these devices is around 40% so still a pretty good margin for the reseller.
Next weekend I leave for a 3 week holiday and after that it should be ready for pickup according to my reseller

Every products drop its value fast, especially in a 2nd hand market! In our area it only depreciates 20% only for selling Rose products in 2nd hand market. It has good value indeed! Unlike some other products like auralic, Innous etc… you could only get less than 50% if you sell it out, even you bought it just for few months!
However, I never care of its 2nd hand value honestly! Why we always like to think how much we could get if selling it out, if you love to use the products?
If so, I’d advise you never try to buy anything in new. Then you would feel much better when you intend to sell it out.

My friend and I both just got a 130 and it was imo far better than my previous 250 regarding their digital out section. My friend , who owned both 150 & 150B before still comments it sounds much better obviously!

I’m really interested in your experience with the 130. What DAC(s) are you using?
How is the listening experience different from your 250 or your friend’s 150B?
What do you like most/least about it?
how are you connected to your DAC?
Have you tried iis? Did it work?
What about the display quality compared to the 150B? What differences have you seen?
I see that you are not using the fiber optic connection to your switch. Have you discovered why it doesn’t work? What was the issue?

My 130 just came two days!Too early to give precise comments . But acting as transporter, the first impression is giving much more clarity, definition and details comparing with the 250.I don’t got a Dac with I2s input , connects with USB port instead.
But I am still studying why the optical SFP doesn’t work

Allan,

How about the display? There were comments indicating that the 130 display would be of lower quality than the display type in the 150B. Do you see any differences? If so, what are they?

I have considered much streamer or server before, including the Aurender. What I dislike is the ability of ripping CD to the HD. I can’t find another one like rose as easy to use regarding this issue. Moreover, files can even be inter-transferrable in between internal SSD or external HD. That makes things simple & user friendly!
That is the experience getting from my previous 250

I’m pleased to see the move to an HDMI connector for IIS on the RS 130.

Since the RS130 has no DAC it would be helpful if more than two IIS configurations were available. My preference would be for software selectable pinout configurations but failing that, I’d at least pick the five top selling DACs over $1,000 and offer their iis configurations as options.

My opinion DAC over 1000US dollar it is worse than it is in RS150B (my opinion). An external DAC must have its own sound quality so that the streamer plays nicely. I would welcome connection of Terminator II (Denafrips) including connection of external clock input. I don’t understand why there is on RS130 50 and 75 ohm data when on DAC are 45M1584 and 49152M data …

Ok, $1,000 was just an arbitrary limit to keep out the bottom end DACs. I agree that the built in DAC in a 150B is better but the RS 130 has no DAC at all.
Maybe it should be $2,000.
The Denafrips Terminator is one excellent DAC.
So is the Gustard R26 r2r DAC and the two iis options in the RS130 don’t connect to it.

May I know if there are still benefits if connecting the Dac with the new fiber hub, but the Ethernet connection is still using Lan ( with connector provided)?

Hi,
Since I do not have 150 on hand , so can’t judge their display differences. Moreover, I am really satisfied with either the resolution or clarity of the 130. My friend has the 150 before, he told me the 130 display looks much better in terms of its resolution.

Thanks for the reply. Is there anything else you care to comment about the features/issues in the RS 130?

Not yet! It is still too early to comment. For example, I haven’t tried its CD ripping function yet, but based on my previous experience from 250, it was an easy ripping function and it should even be better for the latest firmware now

You have one serious piece of audio bling.
I’m jealous!

Yes true, value drops. Mostly if you are a hyped or good brand you keep value pretty long.

It seems Hifi Rose is hyped and didn’t get the status good brand. At least not where I am from. But it’s always a gamble how things go with a newly introduced brand. It’s not all bad…

Anyway, I sold my 150B and won’t look back at this brand. Mostly for personal reasons. I have some friends who really enjoy their 150B. But I know they won’t buy anything else from this brand.

This will be one of my lost posts on this forum,

Wish all the best for the Hifi Rose.

Everyone has his own judgment for value! And also depends on those function which would have meaning for them. For me, I can’t find any brand which could give me more than Rose. Some may just aim for sounding but lost the function of CD ripping/playing. Some won’t read any external HD. That means you need to extract all the files from your machine to go for another one if you intend to sell it out and however, it wasn’t as easy! I do believe there may have bugs for any firmware for every brand, that depends on whether it affects you so much for usage only.
I have some brand on list which was as said, won’t look back again after selling them out too….
