Ok. i found the above on Amazon. So lets say i buy two of these can insert 1 into rose 130. on the other side my router still uses the cat 7 ethernet cable. I get fiber optic cable which connects to a modem. the out from modem is an ethernet cat 7 cable that connects to my router and my router is also has 3-4 Cat 7 cables outs.
Yes, That is how I use it:
First Sfp to Rs130, second sfp to route(switch with sfp) , then Cat 7 from route to modern.
Thanks. What model of switch with SFP do you use? and what cable is used between the two SFP? Is it a regular fiber optic cable?
I use “Sodola 5 Port 2.5G switch ( I happen to have this one ) and it works.
I prefer to use Single Mode sfp and cable . I tried multi mode sfp and Cable they worked as well.
Thanks. I found this one and am ordering it on amazon:
- 【1-Pack】3-Meter Fiber Patch Cable - LC to LC OS2 10Gb/Gigabit Singlemode Jumper Duplex 9/125 LSZH Fiber Optic Cord for SMF SFP Transceiver
Just as an FYI be careful using CAT 7 in this setup mentioned. You could create a ground loop. Using CAT 6 would be fine as you don’t care about the ethernet noise going into the switch as the ethernet signal is converted / cleaned and outputted to Fiber which is the only signal that is going into your RS130 and the fiber has zero noise transfer qualities. Just a thought.
Noted. I can use cat 6.
So no need to use linear power supply here?
Excellent question. Also debatable here as well as the Fiber Optics carries zero noise so there maybe no value in powering your switch with a LPS. It would be different if you were using two Fiber Media Converters (FMC) where you take ethernet then covert to fiber then back to ethernet to output as a cleaned ethernet signal. This requires two FMC and on the side with ethernet coming in you don’t need a LPS on the side going out into a 150b for example you would need a LPS as ethernet (even fiber cleaned) still can carry a minor amount of electrical noise when the signal is converted back to ethernet, thus the LPS. With pure fiber output and input into the rS130 I don’t see the need for a LPS, I could be wrong but engineering wise it does not make sense to need one if the signal has been converted to Fiber as is being inputed to your RS130 as fiber with out conversion.
Very detailed response and i understand your logic. Thank you.
Thanks☺️ for your reply. But I just wonder why you won’t wait for Rose one? I guess price is similar. For the connection issue, do you use the usb dac port for the connection? Or just connected to the 130 fiber output port?
I think that both fiber ports on RS130 are inputs, not outputs.
Right, should be input instead! That means you are using one of the USB port for the connection of fiber?
There is only one USB 3.0 sfp fiber connection on RS130 to connect to USB hub.
What is Rose One? And link available to that?
I mean the RSA720…
RA 720 is to connect external storage via USB fiber. It is not to connect to internet through Fiber.
Yes of course I know
anyone try external clock with Rose 130? Any improvement in sound?
