Look, Mike, everything’s working perfectly for me. My network, my devices are running smoothly, everything’s great. And I can listen to music, which is what it’s all about, without having to fiddle with my devices every day. I’ve also had that experience, editing music, finding and creating high-quality cover art. For quite some time now, I’ve just been turning on my devices in the morning, continuing my playlist from the day before in Roon, and everything’s fine. That’s why I can joke around with you here more often. :crazy_face:

So come on, take care of my garden, then you can focus a bit more on the music. :laughing: :v:t2:

Speaking of Spotify!

There’s third-party software that lets you integrate Spotify playlists into Roon. Do some research.

Yes Roon works along w other apps and players.

The point however is to get RoseConnect One to work seamlessly.

I admit its an edge case. I stumbled upon it because I wanted to see the volume of the unit without having to get up and turn out of my seat while I was working. I mainly use the Rose app to turn the unit on, set the input and occasionally use RoseTube. Right now I’ve pulled the wifi-BT dongle and use my MB20 for BT … but w the USB-B connection… I’m getting Spotify ‘lossless’. So its all good.

At this time, there is no separate function to synchronize volume when the RS520 is connected to a MacBook via USB IN.

When connected through USB IN, the RS520 functions only as a DAC, so we recommend controlling the volume from the MacBook or the amplifier.

When you use the USB-B in, if you push the volume button on the RS520, it will show a change in the volume on the macbook. The volume is sync’d.

This is not the case when you use something like Toslink in. In my system I have an MB20 Bluetooth transceiver connected to Toslink, so I can go from macbook → MB20 → RS520 via toslink. Now the volume control on the RS520 is independent of the Macbook. So here I go into Rose One, and set the RS520 volume at 75% and then control the volume using the macbook.

As Bonte uses Roon, you could also use a PC running HQPlayer as a source and still want to control the volume from a different device. Hence the use of Rose One.

What what I’ve seen, it doesn’t seem that there is an event listener in the Rose One app, or if the RS520 will broadcast events to connected apps. (Or in general.) I can understand why this is the case because its a bit more difficult to implement.

You haven’t been paying attention.

The issue is in how the Rose One app functions.

It would be nice if Rose implemented a pub/sub model for an event handler. So that if you manually change a setting on the Rose (an event) a notification of the event will be sent to all the apps listening. to it.

Its not rocket science, but its a little bit more difficult than just querying the status when a panel/window is opened.

The advantage is that if you have two devices w Rose One open. (lets say my phone and my wife’s phone) and one of us changes the volume from 35 to 30… that change would be reflected in both devices.
(Or if we’re listen to Rose Radio and someone changes the station)

Its how to make the software better.

@ROSEHAN, is there a way to keep the Apple Music Permission box from popping up in RoseConnect One? I don’t want to connect it to Apple Music, and I don’t want the box to keep popping up.

My response was more to reiterate the point of why this is important to get fixed.
At the same time it opens the door to a question of design on event processing and handling between the App and the HiFi Rose gear. Essentially I’m asking for Rose to move to a Pub/Sub model.

I think you have to be a software developer to really appreciate what that suggestion means and why its probably not going to happen any time soon.

Up until downloading the Rose connect One app at the weekend I had only ever used the Rose Hifi app. What improvements are you all seeing from the new app?

ROSE ONE was officially launched globally on April 1, 2026 as a unified app across Android, iOS, and PC platforms.

We are currently working very actively on the development of the ROSE ONE app.
There are still some issues that need to be fixed, and we are continuously improving the app and releasing updates every Friday.

For me, the improvements are responsiveness: much quicker and fewer re-taps (I tend to have clumsy fingers with the old app), all of my favorite artists available versus a truncated list, and the ability to use the app in vertical and horizontal configurations.

It is not the Qobuz app, which offers, for some titles, CD booklets and/or reviews, but for playback of favorites or seeking something to listen to that is not a favorite, it is a much better user experience.

Is there a product roadmap for Rose One users to review what is being worked on by the development team, and what is in the planning stages? These types of roadmaps are very common for customers to have visibility and know what to expect… Or what not to.

Because at this point, after six months of ownership, I am seriously considering giving up on the Hifi Rose products. The hardware is spectacular, and I love everything about the device. The app is utter garbage for any user who prioritizes their own library over streaming services. Metadata handling is abysmal, and ripping is beyond problematic. I just again tried to rip a major new CD release this weekend, only to have Rose butcher the metadata on two disks, and completely fail to recognize the third.

I’m past the point of accepting assurances. I either want to see a roadmap of where the app is headed so I can make my own decisions about this product, or I’m heading to the competition now instead of waiting to find out what isn’t next in development.

I suggest you rip your CDs externally and then load up the files onto the Rose. This will save you so much pain having to fix things afterwards.

Following the very helpful advice of others here, I also now use the excellent Mp3Tag editor to make sure that all Metadata is in perfect order.

I share with you the frustrations related to the inabilities of the Rose’s software to handle Metadata properly. Such as a shame as many other users here have noted the same.

I had an absolute nightmare years ago when I first bought my RS150 and attempted to rip many hundred of CDs - I have painfully learned so much despite the marketing claims by HiFi Rose about CD ripping capabilities.

After about 3 years, I have to say that some improvements have been made on the software side, for example - in the relatively new Rose One App - searching for an artist now provide the results which actually match what’s contained in my own Music library! It didn’t use to be like that. Searching for an artist or an album on the old Rose Connect Premium was an almost pointless task.

So, all in all, although slowly and rather randomly (your point about a roadmap is spot on…), there are some improvements. We all just have to be patient and hope that ‘the software department’ will deliver design and solutions so intuitively good that will ‘disappear with use’.

While I appreciate the advice and sentiment, I upgraded to the Rose because my prior player (Cocktail X14) stopped supporting metadata retrieval when the manufacturer went out of business. So I ended up paying for a new device, only to end up with a ‘solution’ for ripping CDs that would have worked just fine on my prior device!

I’ve actually looked at whether to just redeploy my old Cocktail, and use your method for ripping, and sell my Rose. Because at least with the Cocktail, I could manage my library effectively, which is impossible with the Rose because they fail to acknowledge that “Album Artist” is the primary metadata for doing so. Or I may trade up from the Rose to a company whose app actually delivers on promises made. It’s a shame, because the Rose hardware is phenomenal. They just can’t build a decent app and they clearly have zero understanding of metadata.

I still cannot fathom why they devote so much time and resource to integrating streaming services into the app, when anyone can just use the streaming service’s far better native app to play on the Rose. It is maddening.
