VIK,
Sorry but he’s calling out some bad behavior that you’ve seemed to encourage.
There’s really no excuse.
Now why not talk about why you like or hate your RS520.

No, will be reporting to proper state and federal authorities . Certain jurisdictions, online abuse is a serious offense.
Oh, the horror!
You are providing more evidence of rules violations and online abuse.

Listen, Mike, Boris on this forum really helps participants a lot to truly разобраться in audio equipment, its functionality, and the interaction of the software, and let’s agree that he knows enough to spread this knowledge here.
Participants like @Bicycle center into unnecessary discussions not because they were personally offended, but simply because he feels hurt that he doesn’t know that much. Moreover, Bicycles cycle center into unnecessary discussions not because they were personally offended, but simply because he feels hurt that he doesn’t know that much. Moreover, bicycle behavior follows the standard “let’s compare dicks” pattern — whose setup is more expensive, and if yours is cheaper then you have no right to write anything here in the topics. It’s no wonder that after this he gets called an idiot.
Guys, better listen to music…, check out my thread about listening to music and share your favorite music there
That’s much better than discussing all sorts of audiophile pseudo-nonsense.
Vik,
What little Boris knows is lost when he wants to pretend he has the biggest swinging d**k.
You want to have a discussion. That’s great, that’s how you learn.
You want to be a troll… then its time to go.
You can go to ASR , Amir’s forum.
If you say anything that goes against his orthodoxy, his group of sycophants team up and you end up either getting shouted down or banned.
That’s Boris in a nutshell.
You can continue down this path and you’ll be banned.
OK?
You talk about Boris’ knowledge. He slams things like REL subwoofers. When in fact its one of the leading brands. When I used the term ‘fast’ when describing the output, Boris had no clue what that meant. Then his latest is to claim they aren’t really subs. Seriously.
When we talked about networking… he lacked knowledge of what happens when you use SSIDs for wifi or how to segment your wired network thru the use of a gateway.
CAT 7? Boris doesn’t know why it exists w an RJ45 connection and why its not promoted like CAT 6 or CAT 8. All he knows is what he finds in wikipedia.
Most of my career has been as a consultant. So you get brought in to do the heavy lifting. When I decided to take on a regular job, I was an exec for a large insurance company. When my R&D budget got pulled, I was handed the responsibility to manage their Asia/Pac projects. So I had P&L across multiple countries and partners projects. So when it comes to understanding the choices that have to be made… while I may not agree w their choices, I get it and respect it.
So no, Boris doesn’t know as much as he thinks he does.
When I make mistakes, I admit it. Like when I said Lyngdorf was using Purifi class D. They weren’t they made their own. Boris refuses to do anything like that.
But I digress.
If you want to talk about this hobby and these devices… all the better.
You want to be a troll or a troll’s sycophant … I think several people here have lost their patience.
OK?
So sorry that you had your behind handed to you there, but what you have posted is a lie.
Sure. And McD is one of the leading restaurant chains. I guess both are good enough for you…
Because what you used means absolutely nothing. Of course one needs to know something about acoustics to realize that, and you do not.
Everything you wrote on the subject is complete and utter bullshit and can be proven as such by simply connecting to any home router with multiple SSIDs.
The standard says otherwise. Of course people who base all of their “knowledge” on what someone sold to them (and then laughed all the way to the bank) would not comprehend it.
That shows. A typical seagull consultant, I’ve seen tons like that.
Oh, and just today you’ve demonstrated that you do not have any clue what a Class G amp is either. But you do have a lot of confidence in every wrong thing you say.
Boris…
What’s the matter?
I published links to Amazon and MicroCenter where you can buy CAT 7 cables… although why when you can get CAT 8 for around the same price.
You backtracked on your REL comments, yet if you went to their website, or talk to anyone who is knowledgable, they are SUBWOOFERs.
Like I said… give it a rest unless you can behave like an adult.
Keep this up… get flagged and eventually banned.
OK?
Exactly. You are the kind of person who believes that because someone would sell you something, it must be a real thing, exactly like they said. FraudioQuest sells directional Ethernet cables. They must be real. After all, one could post a link to a store selling them!
I did not. REL makes greatly overpriced midbass augmentation devices. Not very well designed either, but reasonably good looking (if you are into the whole “what poor people think rich people like” aesthetics) and very well advertised. Subwoofers are supposed to “sub-woof” and REL’s are pretty bad at that.
Am I supposed to be scared?
If you want to keep posting wildly inaccurate nonsense, like your delusions about SSIDs (which, for people who did not check the relevant thread, have nothing to do with network segmentation), Class G amps, or anything else, expect that someone will fact-check you.
I can understand why you (and some other people here) would want to see any fact checking banned but that whole “you are entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts” thing applies even here.
It’s all deception or marketing!
Cat 7 cables exist, but there are no CAT 7 connectors yet. CAT 6A connectors are usually installed because both cables transmit the same speed and frequency!
See here and turn on the translator.
That’s always what Boris meant.
Yes, and no.
The issue w CAT 7 cables is that it ended up using proprietary connectors that were not RJ45 but were supposed to be backwards compatible.
The reason I brought them up is that you can buy CAT 7 cables w RJ45 connectors yet they are not ratified by the IEEE working group.
You have CAT 8.
The reason the CAT 7 was never ratified was due to the connectors.
Yet companies went ahead and created CAT 7 w RJ45 because that’s what the public wanted.
( I actually had a real CAT 7 cable w the proprietary connector sitting in a box somewhere. I think it got lost in one of the moves or I got rid of it when I was downsizing my parts closet.)
CAT 7 cables are what happen when you have people wanting a product before its formally ratified by the working group. This is true of some of the wifi routers out there as the specs are published so the vendors can start prototyping products when the specs are close enough to be ratified. Vendors will jump the gun to get their products out early.
I knew what Boris meant. But he didn’t understand what I was saying and why.
Many moons ago, one of my friends was on the TCP/IP standards committee representing the FAA.
So yeah, you get to hear a lot of stories about what goes on behind the scenes. I was in Dubai giving a talk when he was in Doha. Too bad we didn’t get a chance to meet.
Okay, then I’ve always misunderstood that.
Then we can close the case on that topic. I equipped my apartment with CAT 8 right away back then.
They’re just a little stiff, but as a carpenter, I had no problem laying them.
Yeah CAT 8 is nice… I switched over most of my cables …although I still have a bunch of CAT 6A free patch cables that I am slowly upgrading.
Am considering getting some spade connectors and putting them on the REL. Rather than just passing the wire in.
Why do you want to change it?
Cat 6a cable transmits 10 Gbit/s over the full 100 meters.
Do you have more than 100 meters of cable in your home?
Or do you transfer more than 10 Gbit/s of data in your private sphere?
Okay, you mostly work from home, but 10 Gbit/s is already a great speed today.
I’m not about to pull the stuff in walls… if I did. I’d jump up to running fiber.
Its just the patch cables that I use.
Its more about having a single type of cable in my network.
Also most of my CAT 6 cables are getting old.
Like near a decade.
Also same for the USB-C cables. Slowly replacing the cables w the USB-C 4 or better. This way I don’t accidentally grab a 480MB cable instead of a 10GB or better cable.
Okay, that’s a valid point.
I also have a CAT 6a cable that goes from the router to my LG Oled.
That’s perfectly adequate for software updates. I don’t use anything else. Everything runs via the latest generation Apple TV 4K with an RJ45 socket. Of course, a CAT 8 is also installed there, although a CAT 5 cable would be perfectly adequate.
But that’s just how I am, I wanted all the same cables.
Only one way.
Those are called (at best) Cat6a cables.
Cat8 cables one can use with domestic equipment at least exist. Unless one is trying to run a 40Gb network they make no sense whatsoever at home and are a pain to use.
But at least if it is a real Cat8 cable you can tell it from 6a just by touch right away.
Boris I suggest you reread what I wrote and what I was explaining to Bonte.
I was explaining how and why the CAT 7 cable w the RJ45 came to be even thought it shouldn’t exist.
Same for some of the wi-fi offerings when the market jumps the gun before specs have been finalized and ratified.
No, that’s how some less scrupulous vendors came up with a way to sell the same cable for a bit more money, because the general public can not be expected to closely follow standards bodies but does believe that “7” is better than “6”.
Or sometimes even after., although vendors usually leave a bit more wiggle room for themselves there – it appears that pretty much all consumer WiFi 7 devices aren’t WiFI 7 Certified (or something like that, don’t remember exact wording right now) which is the real existing standard and don’t do any of the WiFi 7 goodies…
