RSA 780 cd & rs 520

My brand-new CD drive often aborts the ripping process after it has read the CD and the metadata. This happens either immediately afterward or when I try to start ripping. For these CDs, the pull-down menu for error correction is also not displayed. After attempting to start, the drive is shown as not connected / not present. Disconnecting the USB cable and switching the RS 520 off and on again does not help either.

For some CDs, completely incorrect metadata is displayed.

What can I do?

Don’t you have a computer? Do ripping, and metadata matching on a computer, as nature intended.

Please help us by answering a few questions below:

  1. When you encounter this error while trying to rip CDs using a newly purchased CD drive connected to the RS520, does the CD drive work normally if you connect it to a PC and perform ripping there?

  2. As you can see from the link below, this issue has not been completely resolved.
However, if you provide us with the disc ID of the affected CD, we can correct the information in the CD database we are using and resolve the issue.
“Unknown” artist information displayed for some CDs during ripping

  3. Please let us know the model name of the CD drive you are currently using.

  4. Does the same issue occur if you connect your CD drive to a different USB port on the rear of the RS520?

I use the HiFi Rose 780 drive exclusively for ripping, and only in combination with the RS520.
What is noticeable is that most of the problematic CDs are from the 1990s. The process usually proceeds as follows:
• The metadata is read, but the pull-down menu for error correction is missing.
• When I then press “Rip,” the drive shuts down, meaning it is no longer recognized and has to be brought back to life by unplugging and reconnecting the USB cable. This procedure is quite annoying.
